I bought a total makeover kit from black lion, but once I pulled it out of the mail, the item wouldn’t open into its constituent parts, rendering it all but useless. I’ve used one before on my ele; are you limited to one makeover per character? I can’t think of another reason why it won’t work, except for a bug on gw2’s part. Help please, I’d hate to have wasted my money.

There are no “parts” to a total makeover kit. You double click on it in your inventory, and it simply opens the makeover window. Make sure you’re not double clicking on it from the Bank inventory window, as that will just move the item to your bank (or not use it at all if it’s sitting in your bank).

Oh I thought it separated into a style and a name change before you could use them. Still, the problem is the same, there’s no response to me double clicking the item (yes, definitely in the inventory window).

A name change is a separate item. If you bought the total makeover kit expecting to get a name change, then you might want to get a refund or buy the name change item.

Are you in pvp or something? I don’t know if kits can be used in wvw or in the pvp lobby. If you’re not in either of those places, then try relogging.

Problem solved, apparently pvp areas are out for use of the kit. I would assume wvw as well. Thank you

There’s a total makeover kit (350 gems or 280 each for 5) and an Identity Repair kit (1,000 gems each).

According to the wiki, the second does resolve into two different items: the makeover kit plus a Name Change Contract (800 gems).

Only a small bargain at retail prices (1,000 gems vs 1,150 bought separately, 1,080 if you buy 5 makeovers at a time).
