"Tower Down" still bugged
As a note, this happened again on my second attempt at going through it, so it seems I’m simply unable to progress at all until this is fixed.
It is still bugged for me as well. I was really looking forward to this update because I can’t progress in my story at all and I’ve already hit 80.
still bugged for me as well. Please Anet. When you say a personal story is fixed, make sure it’s fixed. I had a bug problem with the previous personal story earlier today.

I just ran into this problem myself, tried it twice and it bugged out both times after I cleared the beach… no progression afterwards.

It is, indeed, still bugged. Blew up three towers, and as a result I’m “stuck” – Demolitionist Tonn won’t talk to me, his pack marmox is just standing next to the Wyld Hunt Stewards, and both tasks, “Help Tonn find and destroy the undead towers” and “Clear the beach of undead”, are checked & greyed. Can’t complete the mission, can’t leave the mission.
Irritating, as it’s a personal story quest.
Ok guys, I just got mine to go through, 7th time is the charm I suppose, but this is what you have to do:
Make sure kill all the undead at the first beach with the towers. Sometimes they get stuck inside the debris the tower left behind, I had to kill a few this way and a few undead were hidden behind the towers.
Make suire you clear the first beach completely before moving on through the cave again to the 2nd beach and the last tower. My quest went to a cutscreen this time when I cleared the 2nd beach.
Some must fight so that others may be free.
I hit this today. Rats. I’ll try Walkingdead.7016’s advice.

Verified. Still buggy. It also won’t continue even if you fix the problem after completing the 2nd beach. I went on a GENOCIDAL RAMPAGE and murdered everything on the map (including the skales) after Tonn got stuck. No luck. Guess I’ll try it again when I have more patience.
This bugged out for us today, too. The same problem, one of the undead was stuck inside the rubble and couldn’t be killed.
Also bugged for me in the same way. Can progress at all.

I hit the bug, too. But after I found this thread in the forums, I followed Walkingdead.7016’s advice, and everything was fine.
I.e., be very meticulous about killing off the undead in the vicinity of a tower before Tonn demolishes it.

At the third tower, there are several spawns of undead. Kill the risen krait last. I think the problem is that one of the beach spawns does some other stuff, and was also part of the “Clear the beach” objective, which is based on killing about 3-4 total spawns, so if you did both at the same time, it would do the “other stuff” and not do the stuff it’s supposed to after the objective is completed.

This bugged for me too, I blew up the last tower and killed all the undead and it didn’t show me the next step, I waited for 30 minutes to see if anything happened but it didnt, so I bug reported it. Anyways I tried it again yesterday and I got to the end and I thought the same thing had happened but after a minute it went to the end cutscene. I thought it was to do with the packmule because he always seem to be at the top of the hill but it wasn’t. Lot’s of buggy story missions are appearing.
the quest bugged for me also like others have said after destroying the third tower and clearing the beach of all the undead, I guess my only recourse is to step away from the mission until a proper fix is released
A sure fire way to beat this is to simply clear all the monsters on the map before you talk to the NPC to start the quest.
This is still not fixed or newly bugged!
Pretty sure all the mobs were dead but the unnamed escorts would just stand there and do nothing anymore.
Was going downhill on the 2nd tower where two of my Vigil fighters just stood there.
The 3rd tower explosion wouldn´t trigger after the mobs were dead, as the pack animal just stood on the top of the hill at some suddenly spawned Vigil(Wyld Hunt?) camp.
Cost me a kitten daily.
In hindsight, kill all the innocent!

It’s still bugged for me, too. I tried it. Killed all the risen, and even when I found the towers and everyone was dead there was no prompt or anything telling me to burn the towers, the lil asura I was with was apparently no longer interested in blowing them up (he just talked about how excited he was despite being right next to the tower).
I kind of would like to advance in my story!
Thanks for the info! While this was previously fixed, it sounds like it’s broken again, so we’ll take a look.
Do you remember what you did prior to the quest getting stuck? We haven’t been able to repro this issue, so any additional details would be appreciated. Thanks!

I managed to get this done by inviting a pal and she went ahead of me killing the mobs while I stayed with the caravan.
Though I quickly caught up.
Seems the two of us together managed to kill fast enough before the towers were blown up early or something.
On this 2nd run the two escorts also didn´t get stuck, so that may be a factor.
P.S. with “getting stuck” I rather mean just stopped moving. There was nothing whatsoever that hindered them.
Also in my 1st post I angrily forgot to add, that at some point before that 3rd tower blast for a while the Asura-demo-guy somehow found a levitation spell or something.
As we came down the hill to the 3rd tower.
These new problems might been connected to that fresh bug?

Thanks for the additional details! We think we may be getting closer to identifying the issue. If you and your party member stick with the caravan, does that allow you to progress?

Yes. I´m on the next mission now.
Though we 1st killed all the mobs at the cave tunnels mouth and while she(lvl80 Ranger) entered them I (lvl80 Guardian) got the caravan started, the caravan and I caught up to her before the 1st tower.
So we ended up together, quickly killing all the mobs.

still bugged as or Mar 16th. locked on the second tower. Seems to be the same as above, Tonn set the charges to blow before I finished killing the waves around the second tower.

Still glitched for me today man this sucks.
The problem with me seems to be the same problem that was there months ago… there is a Risen Thrall that gets trapped under the second tower when it is demolished, so you cannot complete. You cannot focus on the npc when the tower is on top of him and attempting to kill it does not work, so you can never finish.
My work-around back then is the same one I just attempted and it still works… just go kill all the Risen NPC’s BEFORE talking to Tonn and starting the mission. Just work your way up the beach, kill them all and go back and talk to Tonn. Tedious, but it works and if you are careful isn’t too bad solo.
Just hit this problem too. Dunno is there a mob in the tree or something, I tried the method of clearing out the mobs first but the Marmox and his merry troop still seem to have somehow found themselves stuck in this tree at second tower: http://i.imgur.com/vu8yc5V.jpg
Guess there is some luck involved with it, will try again – hope for more luck next time.

Just ran into this today as well :I Kind of frusterating.
And Walkindead.7016 is correct in saying that risen will become stuck in the rubble if you don’t kill them before Tonn blows up the towers.

And while I can attack him, his health remains unaffected.
Meanwhile, Tonn and the crew are chillin’ out by/‘in’ that tree just like in Tarmac.5143’s screenshot.
Ah well.
Had to do the quest 3 times. First two times it bugged and I couldn’t progress. Seriously, 1 FALCKING YEAR LATER and still bugged. Anet has no proper Q/A team.

We tried the quest twice with a party of five last night. The first time the player who initiated the quest got stuck on the beach leading to the first tower, after coming out of the cave mouth. He literally just stopped moving and couldn’t move or do anything – no skills, no ability to dodge, nothing. He finally got angry with trying to unfreeze and logged out, which kicked all of us from the instance as he was the one who started it.
Second time the same party of five cleared the undead around the first tower while Tonn stood near the boulder near the tower, the pack dolyak standing right on top of him and the other vigil standing around him. We couldn’t get him to do anything, even after the quest starter interracted with him (he got the canned dialog “I’m here to help” or something like that.) We decided to clear the whole map in the hopes he would unstick but no, still stuck on boulder. Since we were five, we were mowing down everything pretty quickly – maybe we should have let a mob go after Tonn and kill him forcing us to rez him? I dunno. The player who started the instance wasn’t up for trying it a third time so we did other stuff.
I’m having this issue now… when will this be fixed? pretty pitiful that its 2014 now and its still an issue
Aaaaand it’s still bugged. At tower 2 and the party just stands there doing nothing. I guess these old missions just aren’t a priority any more. I wonder how many times I have to go through this before I can progress.
Didn’t take a chance. Just killed everything before starting and it went ok. Still should be fixed though.
Still hangs at the beach unless you kill absolutely everything. Really frustrating.

At the point when “Clear the Beach of Undead” is the highlighted step, the undead are clear, the NPC’s are stuck on a previous step and there is nothing more to do but the quest just hangs. I’ve been all over this quest different ways trying to find a work around.

It got stuck for me too just now. The party didnt move on from the first tower and when it came to the part to clear out the beach it didnt show where. I DID just blow up the towers without killing the undead first, which maybe I shouldnt have done. But I just went on and killed all the undead around the three towers and then it went on, so it seems like its working (kinda) now, except for that the borders are not correct. You can be kicked out from the instance and have to start all over again even that you are way inside the barriers.
I dont know if the order has anything to do with this, but I killed the mobs around tower 1 first, then 2 and finally 3.
Agreed bug still persist. To complete mission after you destroy third tower you must kill all the monsters on beach and stand there for a good while … I finally was able to complete this but this is 100% bug :C
