I keep getting into the games with 10+ min on timer and nothing going on, no mobs spawn etc. Am I actually supposed to wait 10 min until the new game starts?

this was apparently a “necessary change that encompasses more than [the lead forum communications rep] can really explain” or something to that degree.

likely the same type of screwball development as removing white swords from wvw.

That does sound like a bug. Have you clicked the gear emblem, then Support, and then “Report a Bug?” We’d love to get those details!

I noticed that too, initially I thought it’s to give you time to build defenses, and here we were 5 people for 20 minutes built ballistas and whatnots, then the game started and surprise surprise, nothing of what we built was there. It wasn’t because were weren’t complete either because we were 5.

I’m having a very hard time finding an active map as well. Every one I enter, the event is already completed (you can tell by the score), but they usually have over ten minutes left. Since the event completed successfully, I can’t tell if it’s a bug or if it’s intended that the maps last hours and don’t close on completion.

That does sound like a bug. Have you clicked the gear emblem, then Support, and then “Report a Bug?” We’d love to get those details!

Okay i will do that

The thing is that when all waves are successfully done its usually 20+ min left on timer. Nothing going on on the map anymore, nowaves spawn etc but people keep getting ported into the map even thou its done. So I guess the only way for now is to wait 20+ min until the next game begins.

Yes this is so bugged. Entering Toypocalypse you usually end up on an instance that either has no dolyaks in to defend, or dolyaks but nothing attacking them. I have to re-enter the Toypocalypse many times (~10) before finding a map where the event is actually running (ie there are 4 orange dolyak health bars top right of screen). It seems that when the event ends the instance does not close leaving it open for others to join but nothing happening.

And now I got in one that showed 59 minutes, and then in the next minute 5 out of 6 dolyaks were dead because there were toys filling the center before me and another person managed to even get there.

it’s not a bug if I read https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Toypocalypse-and-Parties/first#post4629456 right. it’s the way activities are set. if for some reason you fail to defend the Dolyaks I think the timer just keeps going till the activity resets. WORSE CHANGE. Hopefully you can fix this for next year as it can’t be fixed this year according to the lead Designer on it

earlier today, before the daily reset, this event was going great…now, going in to find no mobs..all you can do is build snowmen and catapults and wait for nothing…in the rare chance you enter one and a wave is coming, after its dead..thats it…no more..back to building for 10 minutes and doing nothing else.
with 8 rounds remaining to complete…no way Im getting that meta achievement now as the bell choir wasn’t any good to do

This happened to me. I joined and there was a 9 min timer. We built defenses up thinking it was a set up phase. The game reset with a 20 min timer, but for me it almost immediately reset into a new game.

I got the achieve for finishing the game a soon as I walked in.

How about you move it from being an “activity” to being a “dungeon” so we can party up with a group and perhaps actually start at the very beginning rather than join an in-progress instance with random people who may or may not be saving dolyaks?

Had the same issue on my so far only Toypocalypse try. I got the “Dolyak Defender” achievement instantly upon entering. The instance was just filthy with upgraded defenses, no mobs spawned and the timer was still ticking down from 20(!) minutes.

Thanks for making this a complete pain to do, Anet. You made it so that I literally must stand around doing absolutely nothing for a half hour just to do a few minutes of activity. Is this really your idea of “engaging, dynamic content”?
I’m really, honestly trying to imagine why you’d implement a mandatory 30min wait between matches, instead of, you know, having them spawn as players join or something.

Yeah this is a serious issue. These maps are not closing when the game finishes. You combine this with the not letting people join as groups and what we end up with is maps that are already under attack and failing because of people entering and leaving trying to get into a map with friends or standing around waiting for forever to make it to the next game.

+1 to what has been said here. Plus if you click on the ‘leave instance’ button it sends you to the loading screen of Divinitys Reach, and then sends you back into the Toyappocalypse, to random games which have already been completed and are on countdown counters, typically between 20 – 30 mins in duration.

To add insult to injury, the kick for player inactivity is very buggy. In many instances it will kick a player without any warning. No warning on the main screen (as is custom) nor in the chat log.
So you will be kicked out of the blue, whilst waiting for a new game.

(have to say as well that the ‘kicked for player inactivity’ is WAY too short. Seems even shorter than that for regular pvp )

New bug:

New players ported into the fresh map (50+ min on timer) with no dolyaks alive, no rounds count but only ‘Malfunctioning Toys Remaining’ Count. I suppose failed maps (all dolyaks dead) should be closed and shut down as well?

Seems fixed to me. There is a bug when you leave the instance, you spawn on the door and go right back in… that’s every event though.
