Traiding post. Buy and Sell Fee.
Agree. At least let me know how much I will loose after buy selling some thing. Because it is hard breaking to see my money disappear in a thin air.
Something Anet should say in the TP is that you have to sell above the listing fee. There is a lot of players selling at 1 pc beyond the merchant price but with the first 5% and the next 10% fee they just lose money. If they did not get it, I do not care, they just had to be careful but the other players who wanted to make little profits are not able to use the TP at its full potential.
I just noticed this this morning and am a little bit put off by the hidden 10% fee they tack on when you sell something. My solution:
5% fee when you list something. Limit the listings to 1 week earth time. This will help keep players who left from selling things after they’re gone. If the item doesn’t sell, listing fee is lost. If you do sell the item, take 10% off of what you sold it for, but refund the listing for. For instance:
Selling something for 1g.
Listing fee, paid up front: 5s.
Item sells 15 minutes after listing. 10s is taken from profits, but the 5s listing fee is returned.
This would help the sellers predict their profit better and allow them to sell for lower amounts. Honestly, I think it would help everyone.

I really don’t care what the fees are, but they should warn sellers when items are put up for sale. Too many people have no idea (and may never realize) that this extra tax exists and that in itself really makes for an unfair market.
I’m also a fan of a sale expiration date.
I only noticed it because I was selling things for 20s, a nice solid number, and only getting 18 when it sold which jumped out at me. Decided to bring that up here so some devs could see it and hopefully fix it.

This is not a bug. It is the additional 10% selling fee that the T.P. takes out.
Should this be more clear when selling an item? YES. Many people do not know this, and are losing a lot of coin.
And pricing items terribly low. So those only pricing an item for sale in the trading post for the vendor cost plus the listing fee are losing money because they haven’t considered the 10% commission…
