Perhaps I’m missing something but I don’t seem to be able to use my adept’s training manual. When I double-click I hear a sound that indicates usage but my trait lines are not unlocked and the item is not consumed.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Definitely sounds like a bug. Can you help them locate it by indicating what class you’re using it for? And when you purchased/used the book.

It’s for a necromancer and I purchased it about 10 mins prior to my post. As of today it’s still not functional. I even tried to buy a second manual but it has the same issue.

This is ridiculous. No way to directly contact support for anything other that account issues? So now I get to start over or simply abandon a character because no one can help or will likely see this report amidst of sea of important issues like “I can’t pay repair costs because I’m bad and I die too much.” Great game support. One player gone….

I too have this issue with the 2nd manual I purchased. My second manual was purchased from a vendor in Rata Sum. An earlier manual purchased from the Asura starting zone – – - can’t remember vendor – worked fine – unlocked my trait points. I am expecting this second manual to reset my traits as the manual description indicates. But it does nothing save for the audible sounds that I clicked it.

Playing as a Ranger I got my first Manual (L10) in Queensdale. It worked ok. The L40 manual I bought in LA and, like the OP, I couldn’t click on it, it doesn’t work. Made the mistake of buying the L60 manual in WvW and I COULD click on it even though I shouldn’t have been able to having not used the L40 Manual. It promptly disappeared from my invent leaving me a total of 3g down and 50 trait points short. I was at the correct level when i bought the Manuals.

Last night I bought the first manual for my Ranger in the initial Norn area (Borealis Forest, Wayfarer Foothills) at level 16. I used it and unlocked the traits but the book wasn’t consumed.
It’s a bug, right? I don’t wan’t to use it on other characters and have it considered as an exploit later…

I bought the lvl 10 training manual and afterwards skipped to the lvl 60 manual.
I kept clicking the lvl 60 manual to reset my trait points, but nothing happened.

For those of you with the same ‘problem’, i just found this at the wiki: “Trait lines are split into three tiers, each of which requires the purchase of a training manual to unlock, which can only be used if the previous training manual is unlocked.”

I suppose i’ll just have to earn another gold piece to buy the lvl 40 manual…

Yeah I had this same issue. I wanted to reset just 10 of my trait points on my ele & bought the level 10 one from the vendors in LG, but when i click it nothing happens but the audible sounds. Manual stays in my inventory & my points arent reset. I can’t find anyother way to reset my trait points and according to everything i’ve read the manuals should work to reset the points even if u used them before. Hope they fix this or something

For those of you trying to use the manuals to reset trait points: Don’t. There is a discussion option with your trainer that will reset them for a gradually increasing amount of money to reset them. No manual is needed.
