Lol, good job killing theories. :P Joke aside, yes I was expecting it was a bug, even if it would really have to do with elite specializations and such I’m sure it would not be supposed to happen anyhow. Let’s hope it gets fixed quickly, my OCD is twitching already :P

Its starting to get so annoying everytime u swap Border or waypoint or relog a Character that red sign pops up next to Training, apperantly it effects certain Classes: mainly Mesmer , Necro, Guard

Bin there for 2 weeks now and cant be hard to fix a simple thing like that

For my old characters, the Hero Panel always has a notification (the red exclamation point), indicating I have new skills to train. It only goes away when I manually open it up and go to my retrait area, only to see I have nothing to train.

The notification returns whenever I re-zone.

I saw someone mention elsewhere (reddit) that this is connected to the four professions who have had elite specs revealed (so the indicator only comes up on Guardian, Ranger, Ele, Mesmer and Necro). Can you confirm?

It couldn’t be, as a guild mate who has played Ranger since the pre launch does not get this problem, it seems to be that anyone.

When the patch went live on Tuesday, anyone who was online or logged in after the patch gets this bug.

Anyone who did not log in until after the hot fix, does not seem to be affected, I have a friend who does not get this glitch at all, and today was the first time in a week they have logged in.

I logged in multiple times between the patch and the hotfix and I don’t have this bug on any of my characters.

I do not have this bug on any of my release day characters or any other characters for that matter.

I did log in during the bugged patch and:

a) My thief (oldest character) doesn’t have it, but it did bug with the reset traits.
b) Mesmer and Ele have it, and they bugged with resetted traits too, but theyre younger than my thief

ANet’s aware of this and it’s on their radar to fix. (I haven’t seen anyone mention an ETA.)

I have this problem on my guardian and necro. Both are 2-year old characters. For me, too, it seemed to start after the bug patch.

That’s cause ranger didn’t get revealed yet afaik….we know that the elite spec is druid, but else we don’t know anything about it, since there was no reveal blog and stream yet

Likely only impacts the classes that will have elite specializations available for the upcoming beta.

Not sure if this should be here or not, but I keep having an ! on the Hero icon at the top left despite having unlocked all traits and skills.

Yes, it’s been happening on one of my characters even though I’ve maxed them all out.

I’ve been noticing this since last week’s patch, and it’s been grating on my nerves a bit. The icon for traits/specializations on the top left, whenever loading into a map, will reset with an exclamation point over it as if I’ve gained new hero points or unlocked a new specialization. I haven’t. If I click on it to open the specialization panel, the progress circle for the current specialization will tick to the very last unlock in the specialization, stop, and then finally finish. This turns off the exclamation point on the icon.

I know it’s minor, but it will be a problem when elites and other specializations come out, because I won’t know when it’s actually trying to tell me something or not.

i also have this on a few of my characters. After a week of this it has become very annoying to have it keep popping up every time I change maps. I have every trait unlocked, yet the exclamation point is telling me otherwise.

Agreed: on my ele & guard, NOT my ranger or thief. VERY distracting.

I have a very minor bug that occurs on my mesmer ony: On top on the sign of the hero panel is the [!] sign that I can unlock something with my hero points. However when I go here it says I have 100% unlocked. It disappears when I go there but comes back a few seconds later. It’s a small thing buy annoying me

Yep i get it on my Guardian even though everything is unlocked.
Also don’t even have to do a map change,it seems after a few mins it reappears.

I noticed this at the time of the recent patch as well. It affects a couple of my characters that I used at that time. Glad to finally find the post for this. A small thing, true, but it does catch the eye, so is a constant annoyance.

I agree. Every time I log in on an 80 that has all skills and specs unlocked it still pops up. It may be a minor thing, but it’s very irritating. I’m hoping HoT’s elite specs will make this go away.

Edit: I should note that this is when they have extra Hero Points available to spend, but nothing to spend them on.

interesting though not all my lv80 character got the issue. As well as the dye panel bug, both don’t happen on my male warrior, but both happened on my female guardian.

can confirm happens on my ele. not sure about other class.

As some people have suggested, it seems to show up for those classes that have elite specs shown, and available for the beta weekend. When I’m on any of my other classes, it doesn’t show, but it does come up on my mesmer, ele, guard, and necromancer, which all have elites people can try out this weekend.

As if the system sees the elites being available and us having points, but us not being able to see them, or spend them.

Yeah and even if you go into the training panel to get rid of the (!) it just shows back up on map change. Minor visual inconvenience but it’s still a bug.

Same problem. For some reason all my classes but ranger have this bug.

It’s absolutely been the worst on my new Necro. All my other characters it’s gone away, but it pops up on every SP and every time I map change or level.

Please forgive me if this topic has been addressed elsewhere; search didn’t produce helpful results but that doesn’t mean I searched for the right topic.

One of my L80 characters gets the red “!” notification for the training area every time she shifts scenes (water to land and visa versa, new map, log-in, etc.) BUT she also has 100% in each area. She’s got 180 unspent hero points. My other ‘80s also have myriad unspent points but they do not receive the notification. Why only the one character? Why can’t I shut it off permanently (it does shut off if I go to the training page, but comes back again as soon as she shifts scenes). Am I missing something? Do I have a bug w/that character?

Any answers, how-tos, or suggestions will be welcome. It’s driving me nuts

I have that bug too but only with my elementalist. It’s the only character where the bug appears; 1 of 8.

She must be the only one of your alts that is one of the professions with an announced elite. Apparently this red ! shows up only for those four professions and is thus related to the beta in some way.

My character with this issue is also an elementalist, a Norn. That seems to narrow it a bit. Thanks

There’s nothing that can be done about this for now. It’s a bug that we are seeing notifications in “training” for certain characters. I started seeing it before I purchased HOT.

ANet is aware of the issue and will fix it. (No ETA that I have seen, though.) In the meantime, I just ignore it. (Even if it hurts my brain to do so.)

You are right, Ranger elite spec had no official reveal; just hints from the first trailer and announcement.

However, the list of bugged professions does match up with the list of those who had an Elite Specialization unlocked during the 1st beta weekend event.

I have it too, on my Guardian.

This only happens on my first character ever created. But I have friends that have this happen on multiple alts.

that exclamation mark on hero panel happens on all my characters that has all their skills and traits completely open. its annoying…

It happens to me across all toons. If I wp it highlights itself again.
