So I have been working on crafting the minstrel, the legendary focus. I finally got all of the materials together and tried forging it today. It turns out that I am unable to use my bard precursor because I transmuted it.
I am not sure if this is a bug, working as intended, or what exactly. I am looking for clarification on my options now.
I bought the bard ages ago when it was only 22 gold and not considered a desirably precursor. I thought I had read that it was acceptable to transmute a precursor as long as you kept the looks. And since then, my bard has always said that this item is used to forge the legendary focus, the minstrel. So I was under the impression that everything was kitten dorey. I am unable to find any posts saying that transmutation was acceptable.
Due to the forge failure, I asked around and looked on the wiki at several articles. The transmutation stone wiki articles says that a precursor cannot be used for a legendary once transmuted.
So the wiki is sorta official, so I am wondering if I am SOL. I tried searching several forum sections for information about this, but I came up empty handed.
I am looking for someone to tell me officially if I am screwed or there some way to fix this. If I am SOL, it my own fault, and I guess I will have to farm another precursor.
I would make the suggestion however, that if a transmuted precursor cannot be used for a legendary forge, please please please make some kind of warning that you are breaking the precursor so that no one else makes the same mistake I did.
Thanks, Finit
