Transmuting startup items and Transfer = Ban?

Instead this forum seems to fit the case of your issue better than posting in the bugs section.
Apparently there is a bug with the start up items where you can transmute them with other white gear and transfer them to your other characters. I was curious and gave it a try and it worked, but I was not aware you can be banned…
