I was trying to sign up for a PvP match, but Courtyard got picked as the map, and it doesn’t work for the dailies so I quick back to login, but no matter what I did, ever time I tried to log back into my character I wound up back in Courtyard, even if I switched characters! I just had to sit there for like fifteen minutes, not playing the game, until I could log back into the game on any of my characters. This happened to me a few months back and still has not been fixed. If you want people to PvP, you have to respect their time enough to fix this time waster.

Lol, if that’s the idea then dailies should be disabled during Unranked. So long as it’s a valid gameplay goal, it’s a valid gameplay goal, and it’s not for you to say otherwise when the game is telling me that it is.
Look, if people are trolling by picking Courtyard then that’s their business, there’s nothing I can do to stop them, but they need to fix the bug that keeps shunting my character back into the match even after I go back to log-in. Besides, couldn’t this be used by unsavory characters to cheat or something? Like log out and switch to a character that is more useful against the opposing team or something?

Like or or lump it, go to Practice for your daily if that’s the only reason you go into pvp, looking at some of your previous posts, Practice is perfect for a “99.9% PvE Player”, because leaving when you like, does not matter to other people.
People pick Courtyard, because they like Courtyard, I know I do.

Are you really advocating that I shift from unranked to ranked matches? Is that really what you’d want, me in the Ranked queues?
I’m getting kind of tired of all this “play PvP how we want you to play it” elitist BS. It’s not like I want to be there in the first place, nobody does, but they put those dailies in, and they often make the PvE dailies impossible or inconvenient to complete, so PvP is the most effective option.
All I’m asking for here, is if I sign up for a Conquest match to clear a daily, and some yahoo picks Courtyard instead, that I’m not forced to waste fifteen minutes of my gaming time waiting for the match to end so I can get back to playing the game. I should be able to just relog and rejoin the queue, or at the VERY least, log in to a different character and play some PvE content until the match ends.
I just do not understand why you guys are defending this clearly broken mechanic, how is it meant to be a positive for anyone to force players into matches in which they do not wish to participate? Would you rather I just play the Courtyard map and keep running my character over to the enemy spawn point until the match ends? That would be the faster solution, I suppose.

Asked and answered: “I’ve tried it, it’s worse than Unranked. People just tend to meander around and the matches never seem to end. No thanks.” The “Practice” mode is not a valid solution, stop suggesting it.
I won’t stop suggesting it because it is made exactly for people like you who just want their daily done without pvping.
Maybe try a rank farm server. 100% guaranteed success for dailies without any trouble.

You mean, how Anet has set out how PvP matches actually run in game. That’s not elitist, or BS, it’s playing how it is designed to be played. You not liking what maps are selected, and choosing to log out for 15mins should give you a Dishonour debuff, for whatever reason it is not active at this time, does not mean you can demand a change in how PvP runs in unranked/ranked. It’s random map selection after players have selected a map out of 3, which you queued for.

You’re aware that because you don’t want your time wasted, you’re instead forcing four other players to have theirs wasted on an almost guaranteed loss? Your time is somehow more valuable than theirs, is it?
As for practice mode not being ‘viable’ for you, you clearly haven’t even tried it. Your assessment of it is completely wrong. So I’ll give you this for free: It’s easy to game Practice matches for your daily. On average, you can get it done in five minutes or less if you know what you’re doing.
- Enter practice match
- See which team has the highest number of players/highest score
- Watch them, make sure they have people capping and are generally winning fights
- Join them
- Cap/defend/win as needed
If you can’t get on a favourable map, leave and enter practice mode again until you find one. Ideally, you want to find a match that’s just starting with 2 – 2 players on either team. Whichever you join will often outnumber the other at least for 60 seconds – enough to get a massive lead on the opposing team.
It’s cheap and dirty as tactics go, but that doesn’t sound like it’ll be an issue for you. Plus, you won’t be kitten ing four innocent strangers in unranked to a slanted match. If you truly believe this system is Anet’s fault, at least don’t punish your fellow players for it. Have that much courtesy.

I did no such thing. I leeched nothing, I left the match. I did not “manipulate” the outcome of the match, unless you mean that by leaving I put the team I was assigned at a disadvantage, but a definition that broad would also mean that a not very good player could be charged with it just for joining up and not being very good. Ideally they could add new players to replace leaving players so that the remaining teams aren’t left at a disadvantage, but if players sign up to play Conquest, and end up with a Deathmatch instead, they should not be held into a match in which they have no interest in participating. Dear Lord, what about when Stronghold gets added? Should players be expected to play Stronghold maps if those are randomly selected? Who would even bother with sPvP under those conditions?

Actually, judging by the score when I kept getting funneled back into the match, it was pretty even throughout. They may have even won, for all I know. I wouldn’t be surprised if the other team were also down some players. In any case, it’s the inevitable outcome from choosing the Courtyard map, I picked the other one.

No, but my time is my time, and I should have control of it. If I choose to leave the match, then I should be able to leave the match and move on to other activities. If they see the rest of the map as a “waste of their time” then they can leave the match too. We can all find another activity that is less of a waste of time.

No, just that practice mode imbalance does not matter. You want your daily, go to practice. Leave arena to those that want to pvp that wont QQ when a certain map is selected. It’s very simple.
