I can back this up. After defeating Ulgoth the chest gave me another Overlord’s defeat instead of Modniirs Ruin
I’m backing you up as Kebra did. This just happened to me too. I will try to report this bug through the ingame bug tool.
Did the event twice, same problem.

Just did the event again, still bugged. In case people think the new build fixed it.

Ran this event three times now since the expac launched, got overlord’s defeat on him every time as well
I’ve got the same problem too. Now, I have to wait for the fix to continue my precursor.
modniir ulgoth bugged can confirm , also " research destruction " is bugged the event itself @ inquest facility bauxite in malchor’s leap the event is totally bugged , still has not been resolved after months or years…
Can also confirm this, and add that the event in Malchor’s Leap “Bashing Bauxite Alchemicals” is also bugged, the NPC that starts the chain of events dosn’t always appear when/where they are supposed to.

Just awful it is to see that old events are still bugged, they did not try to do them to see if it’s possible. And they should not have launch collections if their are not ready yet…
And it’s still bugged at various place for the bauxite event.

At least not hard enough to justify a situation where we have to wait MULTIPLE days for it.

Has anyone gotten the chest in the vizier’s tower? I’ve gone there on three characters, one that had already completed it and two that had not, and the chest was open and unable to be interacted with on all three.
You just need to wait for the vizers chest even to respawn. The wait sucks but there’s no bug.

You actually “open” another chest (some feet in front of the one by the wall) which triggers the event.

Why would you even use an dynamic event that is known to bug before HoT? Especially on the precursor that is arguably the most popular and sought after? I don’t have a problem with the xpac’s new content like a lot of people on this forum, but I do take issue with this. I can understand the Ulgoth bug, but Bashing Bauxite Alchemicals should have been fixed before it was even planned to be apart of this collection.
Still bugged, also my client crashes and asks me to send in a bug report whenever I kill any champion thats apart of this event in this zone.

Research Destruction for the Alchemists lab in Malchors Leap is also bugged, the meta event is broken.
The only bug in that quest is the unusually long reset time in case of failure (Or the server doesn’t detect that the quest failed in the first place). When me and a friend did it, we had no issues from start to end since as we didn’t fail in the middle.

Hey guys, i also have the same problem and I’ve submitted a bug report for this also sent a ticket, they say it,s momentarily in progress.
If you by some miracle, like I did, find yourself at the beginning of the lab event, it works just fine. However, if you’re not there at the start the npcs will go inside and die. You cant enter to revive them forcing you to
a. wait for event resets if they actually have a timer for that.
b. find another world where the event haven’t started yet/is about to begin, thats how I got the bauxium one.
Ulgoth one is bugged which is sad considering how it should have been spotted. (hope for a small fix today, crossing fingers)
Currently just hunting down that Zephyrs Cathedral, it never flips so I guess it’s just about very lucky timing.

I hope they fix Modniir Ulgoth’s bug with the next patch. Yesterday I had to waste more than half an hour waiting for him and reading to his egotistical rambling, all in vain.

First time I feel really sad to Anet… After the new build, Chapter 14 is still bugged, and this easy bug still not fix, change a loot from the chest from “Overload’s Defeat” to “Modniir’s Ruin” should not take more than 1 minute in coding.
dont let this get buried in the forums, one of the first announced and very antecipated feature of HoT and impossible to progress because of a simple item drop is inadmissable.
cant be hard to change a simple item or make a new one to give a kitten npc to check that we killed boss and complete the collection, something!
I thought that maybe the Overlord and Modniir’s collections got swapped. So I killed the Overlord only to find that it ain’t

Yep. Still broken. Modniir Ulgoth gives the “Overlord’s Defeat”, and the event in Malchor’s Leap is not startable because the NPCs don’t show up.
Can we get some kind of response on this, please?

I would like some response on this too, been doing Sunrise in the meantime, but i cant make Eternity from just one sword.
