For human characters, when they start out there were 2 waypoints in Divinities Reach that are automatically unlocked. They are the Ministers waypoint at the portal to Queensdale and the Salma waypoint outside the Home instance. After the patch of May 20th, neither of these waypoints are automatically unlocked for a level 2 human character.

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

That might be working as intended? All my charr characters have had to unlock the waypoints inside The Black Citadel for example.

The pvp community reminds me of what Obi-kittenenobi describes Mos Eisley as from star wars.

I’ve not found Waypoints that seem to be automatically unlocked always keep that behavior. Sometimes, they are, and sometimes they are not automatically unlocked. I’m not sure why, but it didn’t seem worth worrying about. I appreciate the extra XP, when they are not. =)

I was wondering about that. As far back as I can remember the human chars have had those waypoints unlocked. I’ve been doing key runs for a couple of years and have always been able to jump to the Salma waypoint.

Maybe they changed it because the other races didn’t have any unlocked. It was just a bit strange they should do it after 2 & 1/2 years have gone by.

Not a big deal it’s only a minute or so run, but it was a change from what I’ve always seen.

Yea it seems odd to say the least to change it this late in, but maybe they finally had free time to get around to changing it, Or the intern decided to change it when no one was looking! My one human character had those waypoints unlocked and i found it incredibly odd after making 11 Charr characters!

That sounds very possible. They probably decided to make it equivalent to the other racial cities.

It’s not uncommon for ANet (or other software companies) to make balance or UI fixes when convenient rather than when discovered. For example, waiting to fix an item-description error until they do a general overhaul of all descriptions.

That said, I really wish their game update details were more comprehensive. There are all sorts of noteworthy changes that never get any notes, including QoL updates, minor rebalances (such as this might be), fixing of major annoyance, etc.
