The patch seems to have fixed the crashes from event completion, but I still have the exp bug. 508k/508k experience and a mastery point, and it wont let me unlock gliders because I need 0 more mastery points. The bar also turns completely empty outside of HoT content. Keiran Wolfheart is again the in game name

Same problem here (crashes/hanging upon event completion/waypoint add, plus inability to activate glider mastery).
The interesting part is, I first achieved the required number of points on one of my characters (Piken Square: Anatasja), then immediately went to the mastery screen, and saw that I could click it (the mastery button was lit up in gold). I realise that the skill is unlocked for all characters in the entire account, but out of homage to my main toon, I decided to press the button while playing as her (Piken Square: Artawen). When I went to the same screen when logged in as her, I experienced the bug, and couldn’t press the button (which now wasn’t coloured in gold). Message is: need 0 more mastery points….
Hopefully this information can help you identify the cause of the bug.
p.s. kicking myself now – should have clicked the mastery button while I had the chance

My game no longer crashes when receiving XP but now it won’t let me assign my mastery point.

Character name is Asiralia (Gate of Madness).

My game still crashes after event completion, and I can’t even gain xp towards my gliding mastery, however all Tyria masteries work just fine. I hope you guys fix this soon. It would be nice if we could get some feedback. I feel as though this problem is serious enough that more than an answer per day would be required…

15h ago +- They found the fix of the mastery points ( 10 mins later there was an update ), but nothing fixed and no feedback provided. girlfriend and me MORE than 2 DAYS OFF in the START of the HoT. And the image ( buy HoT today in the web ) they have is false atm cuz you cant play HoT ATM. Thks for a game i cant play 120€ cuz 10€ in gems more in every account and this happens! REALLY THANKS ANET TEAM

Almost certainly NOT your problem – but as a friend of mine spent 30 minutes stuck at the point of having earned his first MP, on this, kick-yourself, version of “missing the flaming obvious” – and I actually spent a few minutes wondering what was going on myself the first time, before I sorted it by accident – I’ll mention it anyway, for whatever it’s worth…

When you earn your first MP, make sure that you’ve actually clicked the bouncing MP symbol at bottom right to accept it. Unlike HPs, but just like chests and so forth, until you do that, you haven’t actually got it – and in the Masteries tab on your Hero UI, your total MPs will (correctly but confusingly) read 0.

I’m stuck as well. nebulaeboi @ tarnished coast. Mine say’s 0 more mastery points

I am also experiencing this issue. Flymazda @ Henge of Denravi. Oddly enough, I have got two mastery points spent just fine from Central Tyria. Just can’t do the glider.

At Maguuma’s Breach my screen looks like this:

pls don’t make me regret having spent such a huge amount on a videogame…
this is just an additional mood-killer, might just kick me off the edge of gw2.
I’m already frustrated that I payed 50 bucks on the basegame, have to spend 15 bucks on the living world and payed additional 44,99 on HOT and now I can’t even play it… with hardly any feedback to what’s even going on… for days now….

Addition: I was already very disappointed about how they didn’t provide enough severs for the Winterevent this year. I was trying to show friends how awesome the game is, with all the events, but everyone just couldn’t enter because of the lacking capacity… why are we paying then? >.<

srsly I would have quit any other game a long time ago… disappointed

Hey guys, I want to share the bit of information I have.
I bought the expansion just the day the winter patch gone live, so I’m was a bit disappointed by being unable to play it like everyone here.
This is what support told me:

Yeah, we’re aware of this issue and we’re working to solve it currently. The solution will have to be one that our developers implement in a patch, so please keep your eye on our patch notes. It is pretty major obviously and seems to be affecting quite a few people, and while I can’t provide an ETA, I can say that we are actively working on it.

So leaving your name here is not really usefull anymore (as a staff member in this thread confirmed that the problem was already identified) , and as frustrating as it can be there isn’t much you (we) can do beside waiting for the next patch.
I really doubt that such a game breaking bug will still be unresolved in the coming days

Hey,

GM Gus here with an update on the Glider Basics mastery issue. I’m sending this message in bulk because we have a ton of tickets on this issue, so I hope that’s okay.

We’ve got a fix coming soon. Hopefully really soon. I’m hesitant to give an ETA in case something goes wrong with the fix, but it should be very soon, after which you should be able to unlock your glider.

If you had multiple issues in your ticket I’m really sorry that it wasn’t addressed here, so please update the ticket and let me know and I’ll get the other issue handled promptly.

Do not know how the crash situation will be. But I suspect that what some one said on this thread, [that with the exp bar basically locked due to the glider bug – when we gained a Large burst of exp that could have caused the freeze ups]. Makes perfect sense to me. Will see if the crashing continues.

Now don’t get me wrong folks – gliding may be a wonderful experience, in fact it is in other games I’ve played (perfect world, soul and blade) but for me the only problem is that due to the crash in GW2 I cannot play HoT or GW2 at all!!! which is not why I bought them with my hard earned cash. It doesn’t matter how great the game is It’s no good if you cannot play it as is the case at present. February 5th 2016
