I have a character that I boosted up to 80 through Tomes of Experience and now going back and working on my personal story.

I chose the option ‘Sorcerous Shaman’ and I have completed the first part where I meet him on the Toppled Wall.

However when I try to do the second quest in the chain and go to the Stockade, he’s nowhere to be found. On top of that there is no exit icon on the right side of the screen. The only way for me to get out of the instance is run outside and go into the out-of-bounds area.

Thank god it’s not just me. I’ve been beating my head against a wall trying to work out what was going on.

FYI, if you are in a story instance without an exit icon (and there should ALWAYS be an exit icon) you can get out of it by going to the guild hall or by using the HoM portal stone. It’s easier for me to use one of these fixes than to log to the character select screen or to try to get out of bounds.

Still bugged for me both before and after the new build today. On Yak’s Bend, playing Char Revenant, level 20.

Also experiencing this bug, and would like to add that in the loading screen when entering instance, it says lighting the beacon instead of searching for the truth.

Same here. I have the same issue with the loading screen too.

Ran across the problem this morning, same case as the others. Bug report filed.

The loading screen being different is an interesting clue – it implies the instancing system is seeing the wrong story ‘ID’ when entering. This is possible due to that part of the map being used for multiple story steps (both in this branch and the ‘Gladium’ one). Depending on what this segment of the map is used for, there’s some LS2 content (in the upper levels) that may qualify too.

I’m not finding a step by that name in the normal stories, so there’s also a possibility we’re seeing some early framework for LS3. If that’s the case, I’m honored to have hit it early.

As the title said, I myself recorded a short paragraph of vcr of this bug. (in Black Citadel)
It stucks now, can’t go on to the next.

Well at least is good that 3 days after GMs dont come even with an answer… I think we should move on reddit, noticed they are more active there :P

Recently made a new Charr and chose the Sorcerours Shaman as my sire. Everything was going fine, until I ran into a bug…
During the quest "Searching for the Truth" I have to meet Clement Forktail at the Stockade to finish the quest. But when I enter the instance, he doesn't spawn. My friend is having the same issue, and we cannot progress our personal stories.
Already sent a bug report, but wanted to check with the forum to see if other people are experiencing the same thing. Not just with Charr, but with the other races’ personal stories as well.

We think we’ve found a fix for this issue and it’s currently in the testing phase. If all goes well, it should be out in next Tuesday’s patch.

Hello guys! Just to report that I’m expereincing the same bug with my Charr Necromancer. When is the bug fix supposed to come? Cheers!

I’ve been waiting almost a month for this to fix. It’s starting to get ridiculous that I can’t finish chapter 2 while chapter 3 and 4 are unlocked and ready for me to do. Can you PLEASE fix this already?

This is still bugged. Oddly enough it worked just fine last month.

Dear ANet, I’ve found a bug in the Personal story.
If you play a charr and choose that your sire was a Sorcerous shaman, you will have an episode called “Searching for the truth”. The problem is that after completing the meeting between you and your sire, you need to go to Black Citadel and meet him in the stockade. So, when you come to the story tag and enter the instance, the picture and the name on it are changed to “Lighting the beacons” and the necessary NPCs aren’t there.
Here are some screenshots made whithin a minute on the same character.

I’m having the same issue. It’s on a character that I created months ago that I have not played in a while.

Having the same issue — and noticed that it might have something to do with the wrong instance trying to load?? The instance is called “Searching for the Truth”, but the loading screen says “Lighting the Beacons”…

Having the same issue with my lvl 27 Necromancer. Clement is nowhere to be found and while Seneca is there, he only offers stock Charr phrases.
It’d be nice to know when this is going to be fixed, as all my characters have the same backstory, and if I want to continue the personal storyline, I’ll have to make a new character from scratch.

I am also having this issue in that I can not advance in the personal story quest for two of my characters. The only thing they have in common is that they both used the level 20 boost from the birthday gift and several tomes of knowledge.
One is an asura and one is a sylvari
The asura gets stuck when they are supposed to fight the incinerator golem except no golem appears
The sylvari gets stuck on trying to pick up the troll sap.
Reports filed and all that fun stuff.

O.o now that’s really interesting… As far as I know there’s not any story step called “Lighting the Beacons” (at least wiki shows none). Not meaning to rise theories but it sounds like something slipped off there :P

• Fixed an issue that prevented Clement Forktail from appearing in the “Searching for the Truth” story step.

I realize this is an old thread, but it is stated that this was fixed a month ago. However, it seems that it may be re-occuring. So, rather than create a new thread, I thought it maybe alright to reference the issue; since I have not been able to find any recent update/information thereafter.

Charr character Necromancer personal story level 20 is stuck and cannot progress. Several attempts were made, logging out, changing actions within the instance to no avail. Am I doing something wrong?

Story Info:
2. Sins of the Father – AWOL – Locate your father’s warband: meet with Emer Whipmane at Human’s Lament; survive the ghost ambush; STUCK at —--> regroup with the Mane warband at safer grounds.

Necromancer charr – ferocity, skull symbol. Iron Legion -warband. Maverick -Sparring Partner. Sire – honorless gladium.
