good evening anet team,

heres the back story of the issue. i launched the game, clicked login, then play on the next page, and the game just goes black. would it would not let me into the character select page. i tried this multiple times getting the same results. i then uninstalled the game and try to reinstall it but it will only download to a certain level before it would stop again and would not continue to download. the game was fine up to yesterday, how do i fix the issue?

You might check to see if you have any LavaSoft programs. They are often the culprit.

Good luck.

I have virtually the same problem.
I last played Guild Wars 2 on Sept 23 and all seemed fine.
Yesterday, Oct 4, I tried to play again. I downloaded the recent patch, logged in and clicked the Play button. I got the blank screen, as expected, but then was bumped to the Windows 10 desktop with the message “Guild Wars 2 has stopped.” and then “Windows is searching for a solution.” I tried several more times with the same results, proving Einstein’s definition of insanity.
I tried again today. The game downloaded a new patch (a smaller file and faster download). Again, when I logged in and clicked Play I got the blank screen then was at the Windows desktop with the same error messages.
I have been using Windows 10 without a problem since it forced itself upon me in June or July.
I use Norton antivirus and Internet Security, so I do not have LavaSoft programs or apps running, at least, according to Task Manager.
Any ideas? I would like to join my guild’s event tomorrow.
Thanks

Be aware, Windows often installs Bing, and Bing hides LavaSoft programs within.

You might try a Windows ‘Search’. LavaSoft usually does not show up on the first cursory search, but will show up, if present, during a second more intensive ‘Search’.

It could be other programs that interfere with GW2, such as certain VPNs, virus/malware scanners, ad-blockers, etc.

You can contact the Tech CS Team via the ‘Support’ link above/below and ‘Submit a Request’ for assistance.

Good luck.
