Guild Wars 2

My friend recently installed the game, when selecting servers they were unable to join mine and I figured that wouldn’t be a problem because PvE doesn’t rely on the server you selected, right? Well we partied up and then I noticed the option “join instance” wasn’t popping up when right clicking on the player in the top left. So I told them to try the same as I figured their map was full. They were unable to join as well. We both tried logging out and logging back in and eventually completely closed the game and reopened it. This still did not work. I assumed maybe it had something to do with them not being high enough level or maybe the zone. After my friend hit level 10 (they are free to play and had to hit level 10 to leave the area) we exited Caledon Forest and entered The Grove where we repeated the same procedure to join one another and it still had no effect. I can’t think of any reason why we wouldn’t be able to join each other. The only thing I can think of is that they haven’t fully installed the game they started once the game it the playable mark on the launcher. My friend can see other players while running around so I don’t think that’s the issue but it could possibly be. Any help would be appreciated.

Are you both playing on the same region (EU or NA)? If you’re playing on different regions, you won’t be able to play together.

If you and your friend are in different Regions, you will not be able to play together.

What server are you on, and what server was he/she assigned to?

You must both be in the same map, as well, of course.

If it turns out you are in different regions, you will either have to transfer your account to a server in his/her region, or he/she will have to purchase the game, as Play4Free accounts can not transfer servers. Or, create a new Play4Free account and, if allowed, specify the same Region you play in. I’m not sure about that (specifying Regions), as I’ve never created a Play4Free account.

Yes we are currently both on NA servers.

Oh my goodness they are in the EU servers thank you.

If you are both on NA servers, it is possible that he/she must have the game fully installed. I’ve not seen any posts about that before, so can’t say definitively if that is the problem.
