So I’m having an issue where I received the ashes of the effigy recipe, but I’m unable to learn it. When I go to consume it, it states “you have already learned this recipe!” But I’ve never had this recipe yet.

I already looked through the jewelcrafting station production lists, and haven’t found it. I also looked within my Hero Dialogue Crafting tab and it’s not listed there either. I also tried searching for it, with it finding nothing.

I attached a picture showing my Hero Dialogue Crafting tab as well as my Jewelcrafting production window open, with the “eff” placed in the search with no results, as well as the text stating “You have already learned this recipe!” to show what I mean.

Also, I’ve tried to consume the recipe in Lion’s Arch, and my home borerland. Tried consuming it on a level 44 Charr Guardian, by myself and in a group.

My character is a level 400 Jewelcrafter and I’m stumped. Any help with this would be appreciated.

It says required level 80, I’d assume you need 80 to use it.

From what I was told, the “required: level 80” means that you have to be level 80 to actually equip the item that’s crafted. But maybe that’s wrong. You may be right… well… guess I’ll wait and get my guardian to 80, then I’ll try it again. I’ll report back with my findings.

The same thing is happening to me.

If you had learned the recipe, an “Already learned” warning would appear in the recipe itself.
You can learn any recipe regardless of the required profession level of the crafted item or the required discipline level of the crafting recipe.

So this can only be a bug.

Not quite. I was thinking the same thing you are a few months ago regarding certain cooking recipes with similar level requirements. I though maybe this is leftover from some system they were going to have in place but haven’t completely removed yet. However the item in question from OP is newly created content. I think that came in at around Lost Shore?

For this recipe you DO need to be lv80 to learn it otherwise the game gives this misleading message. I ran into this with cooking for the Ascalonian Herb and some stew from Brisban.

Yeah, I’ve seen this too. Some recipes have a level requirement you have to meet in order to learn it, otherwise it gives you an error message stating that you’ve already learned it even when you haven’t.

It’s still a bug, as the message you get is wrong.

And also an anomaly, as it doesn’t match the behavior of the other recipes.

I’m having the same error with the artificing recipes for the “Corrupted” weapons (staff, focus, scepter & trident). I bought them on a lvl80 character after finishing Jormag’s Claw, then banked them to learn them on another character. That other character is lvl60-ish and has artificing skill 120 now, so still a long way to go before I can craft these items, but even though I never learnt these recipes (on any character) double-clicking the recipe says I can’t learn them because I already did. If being level 80 is a prerequisite to learning the recipe, or if having skill400 is, please say so when I double click the recipe. Don’t show some unrelated error, because it doesn’t help us solving the problem.
