Unintended Monthly Achievement Rollback?
I was at 3/4 with 75% on my final one and it got reset.

So, because I dont play a TON, i lose out on 10 laurels?
Thats honestly bullkitten.
How is this remotely fair, when ascended gear is time bound? Honestly.
Why are people so kitten ed off? You still get 27 days to complete it!!!
Though I completed it on the first day. Will I get new laurels if I complete it again?

Im kitten ed because I cant play a ton to finish them. I have a hard time acquiring Ascended gear. And then i get a slap in the face that those who play more, get more laurels if they finish it 2×.
Prior to this I was all behind the 2 week release schedule but now I’m wondering if it is too much for you guys to handle. This is a pretty big screw up, especially for those of us who just had one more daily for completion. Please consider decompressing your release schedule, hiring more QA people, opening a public beta test server or all of the above.

It’s because those that didn’t complete it before the update miss out on the 10 laurels that those that completed it got. Those that completed it before the update can get 20 laurels this month.
Well I didn’t work on any of my monthlies yet. Now I lost out on free achievement points hopefully this is reversed
I remember this happening before when they added laurels to the pvp dailies/monthly. If you had completed both the pve/pvp monthly you lost out on an extra 10 laurels
Bravo, I hope you all in Anet get a rise on your salary for your outstanding work >:-(

Are you kidding me? Absolutely ridiculous. Fix it. No excuses, this is just unprofessional and embarrassing.
Seriously, if this can’t be resolved in-game for technical reasons, then compensation is in order for the affected players. Mail them the karma and the other rewards to make up for this and then people will call it square. The notion that we just have to “deal with it” is unacceptable, and totally uncharacteristic for an otherwise helpful and customer-driven company like ArenaNet.
If the programmers are afraid to screw something up even worse than fine… don’t fix it. But people who completed the monthly already… is it back at 0/4 for them and they can complete it again? If so, that is kind of unfair to those of us who didn’t do it in 3 days (seeing as how we have 30 to do so and shouldn’t be expected to complete it instantly.).
Extra monthly achievement awarding extra laurels is super unfair! That is TWO free ascended recipes or several free t6 mats. This is super unfair and I can’t believe this has happened twice. At least give us a heads up. I would have easily made the monthly had I known I had to get it done in 2 days but now I find myself doing everything all over again from the beginning AND no free-bee t6 mats or recipes during this point in time when they are most crucial….is there really no way to fix this?! Really sucks…

Absolutely. I was one achievement category off finishing, I thought I would be able to do it today. We all who did not/could not finish it deserve the rewards people got from finishing it.

Promising to give us a fix we deserve only get get slabbed in the face AGAIN!
This is sloppy, incompetent and really bad PR.

Lazy and unprofessional excuse. Like I said in the other thread, you, as a company, do not respect us as your customers, nor you value our precious time. Lack of proper testing, lack of proper planning and stupid ambition to release new content every two weeks caused this. Fine. No more excuses, no more failures like this. You won’t see any more money from me. I don’t care for laurels or achievement points, but I do care for my time. Obviously you don’t. End of story.

You don’t lose out on anything, you can still get your 10 laurels by completing the monthly.
I don’t care for laurels or achievement points, but I do care for my time.
If you managed to do a portion of the monthly in 3 days then you should have no trouble completing them in 27 days.
/snip10
The problem is that a lot of people already completed it and got their 10… and now it was reset and can do it again I believe. So they get 20 this month.
People informing us so kindly that we can still get our 10 when they got 20 are really missing the forest for the trees in this situation.
Not too bad…this is the first time in a year I am actually mad at ANet for a bug.
I quit last night with only 14 events to go to get 4/4 for the monthly. I learned a lesson on that one. Go for all rewards before a new update!!!!!

Because of a mistake they made, many people got screwed over while other people get double rewards this month. And they won’t do anything to remedy this bad situation, this is completely unacceptable and yet we can do nothing but accept it because they are the devs.

I lost out on 10 POTENTIAL. People can do it twice. I cant.
I only have 2 ascended gear, and Laurels are holding me back.
That makes my character weaker than someone elses who has ascended gear.
What people can take away from this is do your monthly as fast as you can. I learned that a while back. Why be up in arms about this I could just as easily say I don’t want to have to do my monthly again but whats the point. Sure I get an extra 10 laurels big whoop. I am sitting on over 215 of them they are not serving me any good.
Just learn from it. That is what I did. Last time I didn’t get the 10 extra this time I did. Don’t be lazy it would only take a hour or so to find and complete 12 jumping puzzles. I’m not really trying to be mean here I was just as up in arms as you were when it happened to me. Just try to be more on top of it next time.

This is absolutely not true, difens.1326. As a professional programmer myself (non gaming related) who rolls out updates to several clients semi-frequently, it is pretty much impossible to test EVERYTHING thoroughly enough to not have ANY bugs. If you want to make perfect software, you’ll never release anything EVER. Because it can ALWAYS be better. And yes — I’ve messed up some things that have been irreversible, like this. It’s part of the job. So you can bash on ANet or bash on me all you want, but every piece of software you use will have issues from time to time, rather you run into them or not.
And for everyone complaining about 10 or 20 laurels — what in the world is wrong with you?! You’ll get your 10 just like every other time! And if someone gets 20 (which is just speculation atm anyway afaik), why is that a problem? Isn’t our “in this together” attitude something we pride ourselves on as a GW2 community? We revive our fallen, help out strangers with tough battles, and don’t/can’t steal kills/loot/harvesting nodes. It’s certainly something I pride us on as a community and brag about to outsiders who’ve had bad experiences with MMOs. So if my fellow hero played a ridiculous amount and got his monthlies in the first 2 days of the month and gets rewarded extra, then to him I say congratulations! What is there to be envious of? They’re not taking anything from me, and I’m given everything I deserve.
If you were close to getting monthlies and had them reset, I can understand being disappointed. But if you got them that fast, you’ll have no trouble getting them in the next 27 days, and it seems like a small price to pay for all the incredible content ANet delivers constantly.

You weren’t promised anything. You were told that they were working on getting it fixed, then found that it couldn’t really be fixed. That’s just part of software development sometimes.

Do be presumptuous. I’ve been on holiday and managed to play a lot more than usual so was at 3/4 now I’m back to 0/4 and may not have the time to redo everything with going back on shift for the rest of the month.
Okay no-ones died (or gotten “stabbed in the face” – seriously posters calm down) but its still a tad annoying that the time was wasted and of course then you get Regina spouting the usual “we’ll fix it, oops no bugger you” rubbish which doesn’t help.

I managed to do the portion, because I had some time off work. I won’t have the chance to do this in September anymore.

Too risky to fix? Seriously? You wiped out my 2/4 completed monthlies. I’m now at 0/4, with what looks like reduced credit in the remaining catagories. At least I didn’t lose the achievement points for completing the two I completed before the update. That would make it worse.
After looking at this post for 30 minutes deciding whether to post it ot not (because this is my first ever post with an unhappy rant), I’m going ahead with posting it, and adding the following:
Please slow the two week update pace until you get enough QA testing to make sure enormous goof-ups like this do not occur. These forums are jammed with requests like this, and before this update I wasn’t firmly in that camp. Although I’m not REALLY negatively impacted (no loss of AP’s), will players like GoddessOfTheWinds be able to get a second monthly achievement in the same month? I don’t care about the karma (over 4 million so far), but the laurels and coins can give some players an advantage the rest of us won’t have the opportunity to receive. IF this is the case, and seeing as how “fixing” the error is “too risky”, how about throwing us ALL a bone and giving us 10 Laurels & Mystic Coins?

Couldn’t you add back in the first set so we can all do everything? So no one gets ripped off and players like me don’t have annoying nearly-completed monthlies that we can’t even finish? (43/45 champ slayer)
For we have held fast our ground and our loyalty to Tyria each and every day…
And it is time the Six show their blessings. Freedom for ALL doers of great and wondrous things!

“If you were close to getting monthlies and had them reset, I can understand being disappointed. But if you got them that fast, you’ll have no trouble getting them in the next”
Yes – we will have trouble getting them this month – the Clockwork event had almost got my Champions completed and I’d completed Group Events plus mostly finished the Master Crafter. So no – I’m not happy and I don’t give a stuff about laurels – I wanted the Achievement Points toward my next chest.
I’m sorry Anet – I’m buying no more Gems with Real World cash as long as I stay in the game now.
Dropped from 3/4 monthly completion from before the patch to 1/4 monthly completion after the patch. I’m a sad panda over here. Hope this gets fixed.

I can completely understand this response, however, it is incomplete. What’s missing is how to compensate for an un-resolvable issue. It’s perfectly fine to admit an issue is too great, it’s not fine to then leave it at that.

I have over 10 years of experience in medical software development and support. Of course bugs happen. Of course things go wrong. I messed up my code several times. But never in my entire career, I made my customer pay for my mistakes. If I screw something up, it is I, who pay the bill.

A really big Plus One for this. The “Oops – we messed up but there’s bugger all we can do now” attitude really hurts.
Guess that means it is a time to take a break from GW2… Had a good run but this is a bit too upsetting.
They can at least do something! Like, I don’t know, add some easier monthly options or something? Just something! anything!

And maybe they will. Time will tell. But everyone insulting them and talking about how horrible they are and making it into a huge deal is plain ridiculous IMHO. The very best of the best make mistakes, and I really don’t think this is as big of a mistake as some people are acting like.

We should and (I hope) will be compensated for this error. I will be watching this issue very closely and bringing it to the attention of everyone in game I know who might be affected so they can let you know how they feel as well.
What garbage. This really annoys me. Certainly doesn’t make me want to spend money on gems anymore.

Oh by the Spirits of the Wild, it’s great to see someone else with wisdom of Raven.
Guys, mistakes happen, sometimes you can’t fix them. I can think of 2-3 other times this happened in gw2 alone. Some people got 2 15-slot bags for free from wintersday last year. Some people got 2 bday gifts (on multiple characters). Does it kinda suck, yeah. But you guys are making it seem that this is the end of the world.
I finished up the monthly quickly because I wanted my last 10 jugs of karma to be boosted. At first I thought the monthly was reset to accommodate the introduction of essences to them. If I get the rewards a 2nd time, yay, I guess? You guys really seem to think the rewards are amazing or something. I have over 100 laurels with no idea what to spend them on (this point is moot if you like alts/different builds and need additional ascended gear). I just spent 9 mil karma on orrian boxes, and still have 1 mil remaining, even with the need of obsidian shards/crafting recipes casual play should give you all the karma you’ll ever need.
Just 3 things,
1) as stated above, who cares if someone got an extra something, it doesn’t effect your game in anyway (hardly if you happen to run into that exact person in WvW)
2) Try to picture this. What would you do if you had completed the monthly and then they announce that it will not be reset, but any new monthlies after today will also reward essences? (Personally, I would be a little annoyed, but no where near upset all of you seem to be about this)
3) Those rewards are no where near as important as you guys are making them out to be.
I don’t care about other players getting 10 extra laurels, I care about the fact that I was 1 daily away from completing it and now I’m at 1/4 again and have to complete it again. wtf anet, fix it.
I played 3 days to get 3/4, thx for wasting my time anet. This is one of the reasons I stopped playing in the first place.

Heck, some might even see it as a gain. They get more can get more achievement points now if they want.

If our client lost anything because of our fault, compensation always follow. That is a good practice and right thing to do.
You seem to diminish the value of our time. I tell you this: time spent working on achievements might not be much for you, but they mean alot for some of us.
I’m done discussing this. Too angry to type correctly.
