Was there something changed with jumping this patch? I was in the middle of doing the Mistwrought Vault jumping puzzle in W3 and was booted in the middle of it.

When I logged back on, I noticed that sometimes, jumping simply doesn’t work. Usually it happens when moving forward. It’s like the client completely ignores the command or there’s a 500 ms cooldown on it.

Has anyone else noticed anything or is it just me?

After this last little patch this afternoon (evening, tomorrow, gmt +/-, beyond the sun).

I have to double-mash space to do a single jump most of the time. I’m in a WvW puzzle and if I just hit it once, I walk right off the edge. Not ‘missing’, just not even jumping.

I’m no Donkey Kong, but I’m pretty nimble.

I can confirm this bug.

EXTREMELY annoying for us who were doing a puzzle.

It tends to happen more in uneven terrain, I think.

Yes. We all went JP in the Eternal Battlegrounds after patch (Riverside Server). Funny how 20 people fall at the same spots. I can do the WvW JP’s blind by now. But Since Patch I can not even get to the Darkroom. Mission Impossible.

Massively broken. Just tried going for a vista in Blazeridge Steppes. Fell to my death 4 times because jump did not jump.

WvW law #1: nobody in WvW can count.

The game proably has to sync up with the servers now since there was a issue with teleporting bots. I’m afraid that this will not be fixed/changed anytime soon.

Then I want the bots back.
Hell am I now supposed to buy all the blueprints I use up?
No way ! This needs to be changed quickly. Or I am quitting WvW and by that the game becomes obsolete

Whenever my character runs against an obstacle and I press Jump it will often not work for several key presses. That is an old problem though. Do you happen to run into an object while you want to jump?

I just tried the JP in EB and there are a number of places that jumping is unresponsive.
I did the one in NE LA and it was fine.

Doing some JP without speed boost is almost impossible right now. Revert this change, it’s just so frustrating. Sometime on the edge you jump, sometimes you don’t. It’s ridiculous.

I am also getting a delay and / or no respons when i hit my jump button.

Was doing my dailey borderlands puzzle and were about to go insane because i could not believe how many jumps i missed. Seem there is a reason to why i was failing.

Hope that it will be fixed so it is possible to puzzles again

Every jumping puzzle now is basically locked away from players, because with this unresponsiveness its impossible to get anywhere.

How such a core mechaninc can be even affected like this? Next we might as well not be able to dodge ? >___> I really hope they hotfixit soon.

Yep same here, its utterly absurd. Of all the MMO’s I have played ArenaNet is the only company that consistently creates new bugs with every single patch. They fix an Elementalist ability and Garrison gets bugged in WvW…like…how??

I refuse to assume this was intended. There is just no possible way an ArenaNet employee did this and thought to himself “Perfect!”. Nobody is that dumb.

I found that if I double-tap jump when I’d normally just hit it once that it seems to give you the jump. Not a very good fix, but better than nothing. Hopefully they will squish this one quickly. I had my key halves when the server kicked for the update. All I had to do was make it to the vault, easy peasy, and it took me like 8 tries because I kept just walking right off things.

Double-tap jumped my way to victory on the last attempt.

I got the same problem! I thought it was my keyboard, but after first rebinding jump to X and that didn’t work, I tried another keyboard but I still got the same problem.
I got through the Borderlands puzzle though, took quite a bit longer that usual.

Jumping is not responsive … Sometimes it fails when I try to jump while running up or down hill, no matter how steep it is … Makes jumping puzzle in Eternal much harder and very frustrating since I fall on places even when I pressed space because my character didn’t jump…

First I thought its a problem with my keyboard, but I’ve tested it on two different computers…

I can’t even tell you what changed exactly, other than it’s slightly less responsive, but basically jumping has been completed botched in this patch.

No one can complete the EB JP right now, everyone is falling in places where they shouldn’t and haven’t before.

Something is very off here, and it needs to be fixed ASAP. Considering what a huge portion of the game includes jumping (especially the new fractals), this is a major problem. It is EXTREMELY frustrating

Yep, same issue. Now it is like my body is saying “jump now, you’ve jumped at this spot 100 times before, jump now”, but then nothing happens and I fall and rage quit.

So yes. This should definitely be a priority fix.

I’ll just paste my response in this thread as well in hopes a dev will see this and maybe readjust jumping:

You can see what the effect is by going to lions arch and going to the ramp directly to the left, walking out of the bank. Run at the ramp and jump right as you hit the lip of that ramp going down.

What happens is you are in a “falling” state for a split second so it prevents you from jumping and instead pulls you down.

This is adverse to what the jumping physics previously were because you were able to begin a slight fall for a split second and still input a jump command to gain some extra distance into your jump.

So they either “fixed” the physics or “broke” some jumping puzzles that used to require you to jump certain distances that were REALLY picky on how close to the edge you were when you jumped.

Now add latency into the mix and you can see how being too precise on when the player inputs a jump command can cause issues.

I think gravity physics are stronger too, feels like I get pulled down pretty fast now when falling off a ledge or just jumping in general. I am going to test some falls to see if I take more damage now than before (i.e. will it kill me now when it didn’t used to)

Falling damage seems fine, just the animation when falling feels like an anchor pulling me down. Could just be muscle memory rejecting the end result.

I too am having these issues. It appears to be a fix for wall jumping (you cannot do that any more as far as I can tell), at the expense of regression testing.

thought it was just me while playing the game…

but i have noticed something else, Spells don’t trigger straight away when pressed, i had to press RTL (Ride The Lightning) 6 times to get it to work (No, this isn’t lag from my side or anything, im all good here)….

Putting my in game bug report in this thread as well for more justification for devs to address this issue hopefully:


Jumping physics have just changed with this last patch that has completely revamped how many players have learned to play the game.

Previously a player could be falling for a split second and still accomplish a jump. At the moment, as soon as the game registers a falling animation it prevents jumping and pulls the player down.

The issue with this is that latency and graphical frame rates will now vastly inhibit player performance in jumping because of prediction algorithms for online games telling the server that the player is indeed falling when the client side has not registered this fall yet, causing a miss match with what the player sees and does and what the server says.

As of now, jumping puzzles were created with certain obtainable distances in mind, but now players may not be able to accomplish those distances due to the new physics of jumping.

Seems like you can’t jump from edge of things now, which makes some jumping puzzles impossible without speed boons (before there weren’t impossible jumps)

this isnt a latency issue.. you can run forward and try jumping a few times and the character will just keep running it wont actually jump

Yep same issue here, even a case where my camera refused to rotate it seems.

My brother has been having camera rotation issues (mouse responsiveness) since like 2 patches ago as well. Ofcourse his FPS probably never goes above 30, whereas mine sits between 40-60 (60 being the vsync cap) most times.

ARENANET, must you break my most beloved aspect of this game :/ please fix or i will refuse to play this game with such an essential thing stripped from it. i feel like i am playing a cheaply made f2p mmo,not the triple A mmo arena net promised this would be .

Can confirm this for me and several of my guildmates too. I do the borderlands jump puzzle several times daily and now can’t complete it at all, same symptoms as everyone else is reporting.
