The Decorative Molten Jetpack which I bought from the TP and transmuted with an exotic backpiece turned into an Ascended Fractal Capacitor when I tried to upgrade it into the ascended version.
Decorative Moltem Jetpack (Exotic) + Gift of Ascencion + Vial of Condensed Mist Essence + 40 Crystal
After reading about it, it is written in the wiki
“If you transmute a Prototype Fractal Capacitor (Ascended) with the skin of another item, the Mystic Forge will still recognize it as an ingredient in crafting the Beta. It will then lose the transmuted skin and default to the Beta skin.”
…but nothing about my exotic backpiece turning into the Fractal Capacitor.
Any chance I can get this fixed or rolled back with a ticket? The frustration and time I needed to devote to farm for gold and buy one was so frustrating already and now I am left with this.
as you now know – you should have made separate ascended backpack and transmuted your jetpack on it.

I hope I can contest the wiki and get my plea granted for this. The wiki does not say something specific to the exotic capacitors. Sigh, the effort and the time would sadly go to waste if ever.

Well it does state so and if your not reading it you are reading it wrong in my opinion.
Besides that, the fact that something is written on the wiki doesn’t make it so:
‘Welcome to the official Wiki, the comprehensive reference written and maintained by the players.’
This is the text on the wiki main page wich should be enough warning that it isnt perfect.
To make matters worse. Support has declared they can’t replace items on the live servers and they dont compensate user errors.
Please understand I’m not saying this to kitten you off but to help you prepare for the inevitable.

The wiki entry seems pretty clear about what happens when you upgrade. It doesn’t specifically mention the exotic->ascended process, but why would you think it would be different?
It’s like if I wanted to salvage my legendary weapon to get back my precursor. I look at the wiki and can’t find the info and assume it will work even though everything else I salvage breaks down into raw materials.
