HI,

Today I placed a heroes banner for everyone in Divinity’s Reach, then when I swapped characters, it was gone. I don’t know if this is intended or not though. But it’s not fair either way, since the banner costs Guild Commendations and is not fair for other players who I placed the banner for.

Any chance of a fix if it’s a bug?

Update: After nearly 3 months this is still happening. It’s not just hero banners, I’ve noticed Gold banners are doing this too, and have a blue outline since the patch that caused this 3 months ago, instead of green, as if in party. Please fix this as it’s a waste of resources for most players who spawn them!

Aye, was definitely same megaserver shard as all the people I was surrounded with on the first character were still there when I switched, including several guildies.

Can confirm. I placed a heroes banner in the Royal Terrace along with a Guild Banquet. After swapping toons, my banner was gone but the banquet was still there, so definitely the same instance. The banner had only been down for about 5 minutes before disappearing. I’ve never had this problem before the Jul 26th patch.

What’s worrying is if you place one, you’re at the mercy of not being DC’d. If you DC (which is out of our control) the banner will be gone, even if it’s been just 60 seconds.

Also, if I wanted to place a Heroes Banner outside a home instance for everyone to gather with bonuses, it will disappear the second I enter the instance.

I hope it gets fixed soon.

Two months (at least) and this bug is still on-going.

I’ve noticed when you select the hero banner it’s blue instead of green or orange, as if it’s a party member, which might explain why the banner disappears on map/character change. Like a minion.

not only Hero Banner have the bug (or the feature ^^).
When i place a Banner of Defense or Banner of Strength and change charakter i see the Banner.

When i place a 10% Gathering Bonus Banner and change the character, i dont see more the banner. Get i with the first character again on this map, its too, the banner is remove. Really sad.

While fighting the Legendary Unbound Guardian in Bloodstone Fen, I put a heroes banner in the middle of the fight. And when he died, the banner vanished. As if it had been blown up.
I did not change maps or characters or zone anywhere.

I’m wondering if banners were changed to work like a summoned ‘NPC’ — they have health (and so can be ‘killed’) and lack ‘persistency’ (they disappear when leaving the map, including character swap or increasing the size of the GH).

It should be fixed regardless of whether this is a bug (unintended side effect of some other change) or intended — banners are too expensive to vanish that easily. They are supposed to remain for 60 minutes, regardless of circumstances.

I’ve seen banners get attacked by Mobs on two maps. Malchor’s Leap and Ember Bay. The one in Ember Bay was interesting in that after I saw it get hit a few times, the banner went away. I don’t know how long the banner had been there nor if the person that placed it just happened to leave the instance while I was watching. But, it looked like it was killed by a Mob. I don’t know how long the one in ML survived as I didn’t stick around.

Please fix these.

This bug is still ongoing. I can today confirm that the Guild Gold Banner also disappears on changing of maps, just like the Hero Banners. Both the hero banner and the guild gold banner has a blue outline instead of a green one now, as if they are a party member. Thus, they disappear when the player who is ‘in party’ with them leaves the map.

It’s nearly three months now. A fix is way over due on this.

Happened several times to me as well. Getting really expensive to place new banners every 30min.

Yep, that happened to me as well. You don’t even get to travel clockwise round the labyrinth before your expensive banner has disappeared.

Sometimes banners persist and sometimes not. I haven’t yet figured out if there’s a pattern, as some banners have remained up despite being close to a mob door.

Can also confirm, banner not only will disappear when character leaves map (this never was a thing), but the banner will disappear at random before the 1 hour is even up. It lasts for an average of 15 to 20 minutes.

I have been hemorrhaging out money, commendations, and resources for banners for the last 3 months and every time I report it the thread is buried or no one replies.

We are losing our banners too. We have Tags running Labyrinth and Teq when they place a banner its gone in 10-15 minutes. Also in the guild hall we have several that use the arena, crafting and 2 jump puzzles we have and Missions set up. If we place a banner or Guild Banquet we lose it because of constant Hall map updating they dont stay up because of this since they are left in the prior map and not in the new Hall map. Hall maps im should not update constantly this causes several problems not just with people doing stuff in the Hall but with Mission set ups.

I didn’t know about the Banquet, but I’ve seen persistent MF & XP banners in the Lab and non-persistent Hero’s Banners. So maybe it’s something to do with the source, whether from a consumable or from Guild Storage.

Hmm.. that’s interesting then. I’ve not tried those myself yet. But I can say that:

•Guild Banquet from Guild Storage remains 1 hour as normal.

•Hero Banner source is from Guild Commendations and remains in Lab for 5 minutes, disappears anywhere else on character swap or map change.

•Guild Gold Banner from guild storage, lasts persistent in Divinity’s Reach as long as character remains, but disappears on character swap or map change.

I suppose I could try other sources, but that would be rather an expensive thing for me to do when ArenaNet should be the ones testing this!

Indeed! (And perhaps they are already doing so. At least, I hope they are.)

Today I put a guild gold banner out from storage again and noticed it no longer had a blue outline around it as if it were a party member like before. I had highly hoped it was a fixed bug, but alas when I changed characters….

The hero banner bug is even worse when it’s from Guild Storage and not inventory. It’s bad enough wasting a commendation or two on a banner, but a scribed hero banner that costs (when I last checked a couple of months back) 15 gold??!!
