Vendor List Limit (Vigil, Priory, Whispers)
NPE
(15 complaining kittens with no milk to drink.)
Now the vendors only sell the limited equipments that only the said class can use. I only have one mesmer character that’s in Vigil and now I can’t buy the Vigil Rifle skin anymore because of this change.
Kindly please switch it back, it does more damage than it fix.
What’s the idea behind this change anyway?
This is not intended. This is a bug, and we apologize for the confusion. The team is aware of this issue and will be correcting it as soon as possible.
You truly are not (supposed to be) required to use a specific profession to purchase items for that profession. Even if an item is not intended for use by a particular profession, you still can (or will be able to, once the fix goes through) purchase the item for use by another character/profession. For example, your Elementalist is welcome to purchase Engineer gear, although obviously the Ele cannot equip it.

Thanks for the quick confirmation, looking forward to the fix!
Oh man I was not happy for a sec, but now it looks like everything will be OK soon.
Sorry for the unnecessary alarms, guys. We’ll get this taken care of so you can go about your business normally.

I’m so glad to hear this was just a bug. Man, I was not happy.
Before you do fix it make a button to “only show stuff usable by your profession” like in the trading post. So it reduces clutter.

Interesting idea, Yumiko! I don’t know if there’s a plan for that sort of interface change, but as a player I can see where it would be useful.

Yeah this would be a very good idea indeed.
Thank you for the information! Glad it’s a mistake and not intended.

and make it a permanent option. meaning, you talk to a vendor, and there is a checkbox for only showing profession-specific gear. if you check it, it will be checked for any vendor you visit. it’s really annoying when you have to set an option to how you want it every time you need it.

Thanks for the update. It’s good that it’s just a bug.
Does it on cultural vendors too. Glad to hear it’s a bug!
I think the nicest solution to sort the items on whether you can use them, make a list on the top of the vendor dialog with “Items you can hold”, and further down the dialog a list of “Items you cannot hold”. You can even grey out items that you cannot hold to make it more clear.
I think that an hidden option somewhere in a menu is not friendly to new players.
It’s also affecting skill trainer. You can’t buy new traits instead the trainer is showing the ones you have

Yeah. I was going to suggest just that!
Why simply reverting it? If this can happen, why not embracing it and turning it into a feature, by adding a checkbox in vendor panels shared across all vendor panels that hides stuff your character can’t use from vendors?
