Hello, I have spoken to some other people who are playing GW2 with Verizon Fios as their internet providers and we all seem to be having issues with GW2 connection. It is a mix of having higher ping (sometimes ridiculous ping up to 3,000 for me even though my speedtest says I have 8ms) and functions of the game not working properly (i.e. Cannot decline or accept party invitations). If you have Verizon Fios or another internet provider and having issues with your connection to GW2, please post here so Anet can see, and hopefully resolve the issue. Thanks!

Also, here is what is popping up on my screen whenever I try to accept a party: http://gyazo.com/8c277d3811077a11bd140429cbf48812

This is happening for everyone. Anyone’s guess as to the issue. Could be the game service, could be a DDOS, could be a general routing problem somewhere on the internet.

I am getting the same issue… It started about a week ago, goin on and off. I believe that while everyone is getting a bit of the issue, Verizon FiOS users are being hit the hardest. I was PvPing for a good portion of the day, and it seems that while 50% of the players had lag, I and those using FiOS had the most lag. We can’t move, transfer maps, chat, or anything we would like to do in GW2.

Anet please fix this… It is ridiculous, my 5000 ping.

I have FIOS also but I haven’t had any trouble with lag until today around reset on 3/22

average ping is @1500 so the game is pretty much unplayable

Koltiron, the problem is probably that Verizon is partnered with Telia, which is very well known for causing problems with routing. They are the “middleman” between the servers that you’re connecting to in order to play GW2 and the connection you receive from your ISP.

You can try using a VPN and see if that helps you. There’s a lot of them out there but one that most people I know use is called “WTFast.”

But the thing is, there’s a chance that this doesn’t even help. If it doesn’t help to use a VPN then the problem is either the fault of your provider (which you can check by using speedtest), your software/hardware, or Anet.

This doesn’t appear to be a Telia issue from my end. I’m on Verizon FIOS in NJ. It goes all the way from VZ to UUnet/AlterNet (now owned by Verizon) to NCSoft. The interface connection between AlterNet and NCsoft is the one that’s causing a problem for me.

Traceroute to the GW2 game server attached.

hello I was just having your same issue, my tracerts were just as bad. I don’t know who is at fault if anet or Verizon(though the high MS is always at nsoft servers like you), but last time I had this issue; it was after a big patch. After calling Verizon they change my IP and everything went back to normal. Today I was having the same issue as you and decided to change my IP and sure enough everything went back to normal.

This has happen three times total, either after a full reinstalled of the game or a big patch and for whatever reason either Verizon or anet is causing high MS (throttling). However just by changing my IP address the issue is resolve, my MS goes back to normal and I am able to play again. However again the MS is only high on nsoft servers when this happens.

Well in Kilam’s case 65.205.119.210 is still a verizon IP. The 400+ms is not the worst but it certainly isn’t good either.

I believe NCSoft owns that IP.

Hmm came up as Verizon Business in another DB.
http://whois.arin.net/rest/net/NET-65-192-0-0-1.html is probably the reason for that.

Im having lag spikes non stop, im not even using verision fios… i opened a support ticket for my ISP wich is bredbandsbolaget an isp in my country and opened one for Guild wars 2 no one can fix this problem becuse its a midle man who makes the internet slow im not a customer at veriszon still thay throttle my speed way ? becuse thay are evile! thay want to make Money like explened in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rz4Ej3IVefo&list=UUy1Ms_5qBTawC-k7PVjHXKQ

What has become of the free internet its gone! many more big companies starts to Control the internet to make Money and frezze the “People/companies” that thay dont want to support. im just so sad… becuse i cant do anyting to counter it not even a vpn like wtfast works 100% becuse it still has to travle into the crappy verision hands.

This means that thay can even controll who wins and who dont in a esport tornament for example. and way just to make money.
