Are the devs aware of an odd bug that gives weapon achievements (100/100 killing blows) working strangely? I don’t know how it happened, but during a large event in the starting charr area, I got Staff Master, as an engineer while using a rifle. I sent in a bug report and looked all over the forums to see if this has happened before. It’s been a couple days and I still have the achievement.

Honestly, I think the biggest reason I’m posting this, well, I’m terrified that if I don’t make sure that someone takes note of this, that they will think that I intentionally took advantage of some kind of bug. I haven’t even really played much since then, just because I’m worried that I’ll get banned.

If I could just get some kind of confirmation that Anet is aware of this, and that I have nothing to worry about, I’d really love to get back to the game. As I said, all I know is that it happened while we were all killing a lot of ghosts during an event.

Well, I’ve identified the cause, and it means that pretty well every engineer is effected by it, and can’t really do anything about it. I’ve stopped playing for right now just because I don’t want to get banned for playing my class, and since I haven’t been able to find anything about this on the forums or from the devs, and no mention in the latest notes, I can only suspect that they don’t know about it. So until I get some kind of confirmation regarding this from the devs, I think I’m done, which sucks ‘cause I really do love this game, but I’m not putting the time into my character just to get in trouble.

I don’t know man, ever since they threw down that ban hammer the other week on all those people, I feel like doing anything like what I’ve described above would be grounds for banning. The worst thing is that I don’t see anything from the devs regarding this, and I doubt many people even know about it. Anyone that plays an engineer will be effected by this (though I’m not specifying how exactly to avoid telling people how to exploit it), and I just want to see it addressed before we see another wave of suspensions and bans. I wish achievements were not account wide. If they weren’t, I’d just delete the character that sparked it and move on, but because of that one thing, I feel like I can’t get away from it.

The fundamental difference is that this isn’t an exploit nor does it give you any advantage over other players. It’s just a relatively meaningless bug which, as you said, affects all Engineers. Do you really think ANet is going to ban an entire class for something this minor? Simply put, you fear of being banned isn’t rational.

It gives achievement points, which I feel could be seen as an exploit.
