Playing in FoTM yesterday during the Volanic Fractal my weapon swap button got stuck during the final fight against Grawl Shaman. I was unable to change between my two equipped weapons which caused some issues for me being stuck with a Great Sword. Not knowing what to do I tried to get myself quickly downed and rezzed again to see if it fixed it which it did. Since we were in the middle of killing the boss and the enviromental effects hindering me I wasn’t able to grab a screenshot but the button was greyed out.
When exactly it happened I don’t know, didn’t notice it until we had engaged the boss and I couldn’t swap.

This happened to me several times. So far I can tell its not area specific and I didn’t notice a specific cause for the issue. I think I relogged to fix it. It has been a long while since it has happened to me.

You can “fix” it by opening your hero panel and clicking the swap weapon button there. After that, the button in your action bar becomes unstuck, and the key will also work.

This is probably related to the bug that causes players to become stuck in certain animations (ex., sometimes you press F while running, the interaction fails, and your character is stuck running in that direction for 4 or 5 seconds – or you’re just frozen in place for almost a full minute, which happens a lot with some staff animations).

It seems like the animation system in GW2 has the ability to selectively disable parts of the interface, so if the animation system thinks the weapon swap animation hasn’t finished, it will disable the weapon swap button and key. Fortunately it doesn’t seem to disable the one in the hero panel, but it’s still very annoying if you’re in combat.

That’s great to know, thanks. And yeah god knows how many times I’ve rushed past some object I had to pick up because of that lol…

But still they need to fix this quickly. It is game breaking if you don’t know it still can be fixed in the Hero panel. Besides, it is happening frequently now and almost everyone in the party are experiencing the same issue. Some professions require frequent weapon swap in combat and this unreliability is killing the combat. You don’t always have time to open your hero panel to fix it in combat.
