Underwater kills are not counting toward weapon mastery. I tested it out on a couple inquest. I started at 1,050 kills with trident. Killed 2 enemies, and still at 1,050. I’m not certain if this is happening to land skills though since all my land skills are max.

As far as I know, you need to actually land the killing blow for it to count. If the mob dies from a condition tick, retaliation or a pet attack, the kill does not count towards the weapon mastery. Are you sure that’s not what happened here?

Yes I’m sure. I tested with a weapon that doesn’t give condition. One of my guildies mentioned it and I tried and same result.

Yeah, you need to kill it with weapon damage only. Any other damages effectively negates credit. Environmental targets such as rabbits and salmon count towards the kill count and only have like 1hp. So, those are good at raising kills with condition based weapons and classes.
