Hi fellow gamers.

I recently moved to new laptop and moved gw2 to it from my old laptop through external hdd.

Some specs of my old laptop:
Intel Pentium @2.4 GHz
Nvidia GeForce 610M
RAM 4GB
1TB HDD

And now the new one:
Intel i7 4558U @2.8 GHz (3.3GHz boost)
AMD Radeon R5 230M
RAM 8GB
1TB HDD

The problem is, that when I was playing on my old laptop I had around 20 – 25 in PvP and 25-30 (sometimes even 35) in PvE on low/mid settings. Now I’m experiencing pretty same FPS on same settings.

I know that my GPU is no good, but I was expecting some change in framerate(since gw2 is more CPU bound). Currently I am reinstalling gw2 and I updated my GPU drivers. Also, I will probably upgrade my RAM to 12GB – 16GB. Do you guys think any of these things will help?

Maybe I will start using Razer Cortex, do you have any experience with it?

Thanks for your answers.

Well GW2 doesn’t depend on GPU by any means, in fact the game is still VERY heavily CPU bound (they said they changed that but lied to the players, it’s still CPU).

GW2 is also not optimized well, either. Lot of the CPU performance boost you sometimes see in the game is do to L2/L3 CACHE, FSB and other CPU enhancements that help the game. What’s surprising is your’e going from Pentium to i7 and getting the same performance – but knowing how GW2 was built it’s not shocking either.

I would try re-installing the game and see where than leads. Make sure drivers are fully updated throughout the new laptop, too.

Thank you for your answer. What fps do you think I should be experiencing using, let’s say mid settings? Also, how does the L2/L3 CACHE and FSB work? Never heard of it.

Yes, it uses mostly CPU but it does use GPU somehow. At times I have a software from my graphic card running along with GW2 and during game play it shows like 60 to 70% GPU time too. Then saying that GW2 doesn’t depend on GPU isn’t entirely true either.
