For the past hour I have done 3 world bosses and never got the loot chest from it. I can loot normal enemies, but I don’t get the big loot chest. What is going on?

Zone boss physical chests can only be gotten once per day per character. It is possible that you already defeated those bosses and gotten the chests since yesterday’s daily reset on this character, which would then prevent you from getting them again with that character. You must defeat them with characters that have not defeated them yet since last daily reset, or wait until after tonight’s daily reset for the chest to be available for this character again.

Also as a note – the bonus chest that contains a rare item (for characters level 39+) can be gotten only once per day per account instead of per character like the boss chest.

therein lies the problem. I did jungle wurm, shadow behmoth, and shatterer and never got the physical chest. the daily bonus I’m not that concerned about since I did these bosses yesterday, but I am not getting the big loot chest

As Stin said, you can only get the big chest once per day per character. So, try switching to a character that hasn’t already done the events since the last reset.

You just mentioned “first time today”, though earlier you mentioned “I did these bosses yesterday” – Did you do them yesterday after the daily reset? If so, then that was technically “today” also. You can only get the chests once per day per character between daily reset times as that is when everything resets each day, not midnight your local time. It is one time in a 24hour period from daily reset to daily reset.

Daily reset is 8pm in my local time (server time +3 hours). If I get the chests at 8:10pm then I cannot get them again until 8pm the next day when daily reset occurs, not 4 hours later when it is past midnight and is technically the next date for my locality.

• “Fixed a bug on certain world boss chests that was causing them to drop fewer rewards than intended. These chests can now only be looted once per day, to encourage players to fight multiple bosses and spread out across the world.”

“World Bosses are special event bosses encountered throughout the open world of Tyria that spawn a chest and award players with one bonus chest when defeated. Each individual world boss can only spawn a chest once per day, per character and award a bonus chest once per day, per account.”

The quaranteed rare being moved into the bonus chest:

“Daily chests with an increased drop rate in exotic and precursor weapons were introduced in the 26 February 2013 update. They included a guaranteed rare or better weapon that was moved to a Bonus Chest in the 26 March 2013 update.”

Though a “day” has always been classified as being from daily reset to daily reset.

“00:00 UTC (20:00 UTC-4) – Resets daily achievements; certain objects respawn – chests (e.g. from Jumping Puzzles, except for those in World versus World), and event-related interactive objects (Carving Pumpkin, Magic Snow).”

The one exception is the Karka Queen, which currently only offers one bonus and one ground chest per day per account (due to pre-patch abuses — they haven’t gotten around to making that event behave the same way as the others).
