While holding right click, randomly unlocks
-updated OP-
Edit I’m not alone in this problem. Posted on reddit and seems lots of people are having this issue. I’ve encouraged them to post here so we can get this fixed!

Having the same issue, kinda annoying when in a middle of a zerg fight or doing JP…..only happen to me after HoT patch.
I used to have the same problem. It turned out to be a mouse hardware problem.
The right mouse button began to wear out, so it lost contact sometimes. Clicking was always ok, but holding down for some time period was not any more.
I also thought the mouse hardware was not the culprit, but after I bought a new mouse (exactly the same model), the problem was instantly gone. Instantly and completely. I didn’t even reinstall anything. I simply plugged out the old mouse, plugged in the new mouse, and poof, the camera started to work again as it should.

Same here, replacing my mouse fixed the issue

Yep, as others have said it sounds like a hardware issue. If you have a fancy gaming mouse, there’s also a chance that it could be a driver issue, but that’s not very likely.
Have you tried using another mouse?
The problem only exist when i’m playing Guild Wars 2, others games do not have the problem at all, for example one of the online FPS game that i play required holding down right click to aim but it work perfectly fine there.
Tried several mouse testing software and found no problem on my mouse at all.
I’m using a Razer Naga 2015
This started happening to me 3 weeks ago. However, it maybe a mouse problem I’m still investigating. It seems to only happen in game so far.
I’m having the same problem and my mouse is 3 months old – happened randomly a few weeks ago, was then gone (the next day), started happening today again. And just when I got my old mouse out to test it it’s gone again.
ETA: Yepp, in my case it seems to be a mouse issue.

Ah, thank you for the post. I just had the issue again, so i went to my windows desktop and was moving the selection rectangle around just fine. But in game, the right mouse button kept releasing.
My right click, started to act up in windows so it’s a mouse issue for me.
I believe it is my mouse’s problem but I don’t want to get a new one for a such a miniscule problem, ArenaNet could fix this by allowing a toggle so the camera and character follow where the mouse goes like when holding down right click however instead of holding down you would press right click once to activate it then press it again to turn it off so you could use the cursor. This would fix the issue without people having to buy a new mouse.

This thread is 1+year old…
Just a buy a new mouse. The problem is your hardware wear and tear (as you’ve just said), nothing to do with Anet.
If you want the camera to follow your mouse movement, use action camera.
I can’t believe I’ve read a suggestion so you don’t have to replace a worn mouse
This isn’t a hardware issue. My mouse works perfectly outside of the game, as well as in other games, including games with the same type of camera movement. GW2 is the only game, ever, that I’ve encountered this problem. And it’s been going on for years.
This isn’t a hardware issue.
It most likely is. Bad button contacts can cause the inputs to twitch, which rapidly spams mouse up and down events. Razer for example uses cheap components, so this is a common problem, though simple to fix by cleaning the contacts. You might not notice this in some games simply due to how they’re programmed, like using delayed input for example.
If you want to find out, setup a logger to record your mouse input.

Haven’t thought of that. Atm the game is unplayable with this issue. Will look into it.
