Often I (and fellow guildies) find upon logging in we are unable to initially send whispers. It seems to be a delay of up to 30 minutes when attempting to whisper. Anyone else having this issue? Is A-net aware of or working on this?
If it’s on their end it’s most likely a ddos attack. When did this happen. Was it yesterday around reset? Otherwise maybe your computer is overheating or having some other type of issue.
Slow whisper turn-around is a type of latency, which can result from issues on your end, your friend’s end, ANet’s end, or anywhere in between. It also can be affected by live server maintenance (which, afaik, ANet always tells us about): the chat servers are different from the combat servers.
See if you can narrow down possibilities:
Which ever the case, if it keeps happening, open a support ticket with as much of the details as you can offer and encourage others who are seeing the same symptoms to also open a ticket.
This will give ANet the data they need to do something. If it’s on their end, it should be enough to help them pinpoint the hardware involved. Otherwise, this will help them convince various third party internet service providers that the problem is between you and ANet. (And, in many cases, the problem might turn out to be on your end and ANet will be able to help with that, too.)
I very rarely had any whisper lag till 2015, it’s gotten worse each week, worst was yesterday took 1hr+ after login for any whispers to work, as ever they magically work when in battle, interrupting whatever you were doing…. That’s an extreme case usually first few mins after logging whispers don’t work, strange whatever it is, 2013-14 graphics and sound were always slower to generate but nowadays whispers and guild data can often be delayed…. I am able to reply to a pm instantly however and mails aren’t affected, party requests and invites are almost unaffected as well, albeit a second oh less delay at times. (Names in parties don’t always change after a player swaps character)
