Why does the search of this forum not work?
A: Because nobody in charge cares about it enough to get it fixed.
Do what everyone else does.
google it. “search topic” site:forum-en.guildwars2.com
Works fine and afterwards make sure to bow down in gratitude to our future rules. All hail Google!

Not actually. A dev told why it hasn’t been fixed and what are the plans about this here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/Forum-s-search-feature-doesn-t-work-A-tip/4612877
That does not invalidate my statement. What Gaile basically tells us is that their people are working on other stuff and that they are not willing to hire someone else it to get it fixed. → They dont think it is all that important. (Which isnt a bad call if their resources are that scarce..)

What they don’t seem to realize, they would need less resources to delete multiple threads ( like this one) if they had a search that worked.

True
And to make the search work is not really that hard.

Actually that is a community relations official not a programmer and it essentially acknowleges the problem, says they are too busy and even if they weren’t they don’t have the expertise tp fixit . Of course if someone in authority would take charge, things could change.
The thing is, they used a proprietary system for this forum and the developer of the system isn’t there anymore to give any support.
If any of you are a programmer you may have some idea of what a pain is having to take a time to analyze countless lines of code of a unknown system to figure out how things work before being properly able to fix a simple thing, otherwise you will have the risk to break it even more.
The fact is it seems they don’t have the enough resource or personal to take the needed time to learn how the system work. Closed systems are hard to understand if the original creator/developer isn’t there to give some support. Just don’t judge things without properly knowing all aspects involved.
