I was doing some Edge of the Mists today, for Karma farm, gold, crafting materials etc. Like I always do from time to time. Edge of the Mists had just restarted and there were 3 hours to go until next reset. So I was ready to do some farming and get my mats and gold.

But after a few captures (mainly small flag spots and supply locations) we came over a enemy controlled base, and we attempted to break down the gate. But the enemy team were waiting on the other side, and were doing a good job stalling us by repairing the gate and using canons etc. on the ground “soldiers”. We were taking heavy fire, so me and some other guys were falling back to stay alive. But no matter how far back we ran, the AoE from the catapults were still showing on the ground around us, and messing us up really bad. We finally got away, and were able to spawn at the checkpoint with our commander.

I thought it was weird that they were able to do damage to us, even tho we were far away from the gate. But didn’t think much more of it at the time.

We went for another base, and attempted to take down the gate. Also this time the enemy team showed up and were keeping us from entering the base. So far this was a good match, with even teams and good fights. But after a little while people started dying, for no reason. Just massive damage all over, and almost instantly getting finished of by someone we could not see.

So I ran around a few huge rocks (almost like a small mountain/hilltop) to get away from the damage. The rocks were 60-100 meters away from the gate, and I were sure I LoS the ranged enemies on top of the walls. But I was still taking massive damage from someone. I healed myself, but after a few seconds the DoT came back, and there was nothing I could do about it. So I died, and though “Well, at least now I can ress myself and get away from these guys”, but while I was laying there someone finished me of by planting a cow on me. But there was no one there. I guessed it must have been a hardcore Thief, just taking me down like I was nothing, while in stealth. But then my friend (who I was talking with on Team Speak at the time) told me that if you’re invisible/stealthed you’ll become visible again when you try to finish someone of.

And by reading the chat the following minutes I’m 90% sure that someone were cheating/glitching in the game. I submitted a ticket explaining this in a shorter version, and I even added a screenshot of my location when I got killed.

All in all this is weird, and something smells funny about the whole thing. So I just wanted to explain the whole thing in detail for you to read. And hopefully you’ll be able to do something about it. Because a group of 15+ players should not be taken down in seconds by something we could not see, nor attack back.

I’m playing on Underworld EU as a Norn Warrior, and this “event” took place in the Edge of the Mists around 17:00 (UTC +01:00).

If you have proof or even suspect someone could be using exploits or anything like you better report it through email to exploits@arena.net. Discussing about exploits on forums isn’t allowed. But also good you didn’t name anyone or something like, that’s also not allowed.

Also, in case you have chance, you can report them using the in-game tool (if you can clearly see who is doing it of course).

Well, I don’t have any direct proof. So I’m little to no help there. I just wanted to mention it, so that people know what to look out for. Maybe some other player have better luck than me, and actually gets a name. And I also wanted to give a heads up to a-net, so they might get tempted to look into this. Can’t be hard to have a inside man around in different games, just keeping an eye on the chat and the fight it self.

Anyway.. glad I didn’t break any rules. Just got fed up with it, and wanted to let people know.

Yup, I see you couldn’t get a proper proof, I just mentioned what could be done in case you had. And yeah I see what you meant, but the proper way would be reporting it through that email, as even mentioned by a dev once.

Actually, the proper way to report such happenings is the in-game Reporting tools, so a GM can travel to the location immediately to investigate.

I can’t speak to tools. I can tell you that using the ‘botter’ option is indeed sufficient.

As for the exploits are ANet address, this isn’t a Customer Support address. Exploits is more of a ‘I found a way to cheat here’s how to do it’ thing and Quality Assurance reviews those.

GMs don’t belong to a server so wondering if you’re server has a GM is futile. We’re everywhere >=).

To further clarify – exploits@arena.net is not used for reviewing reports of cheaters. This is for notifying us of found exploits so that QA can work on reporting fixes.
