Happened the same to me. Seems like I got stuck in that position if I was still moving forward between the death for falling and the respawning moment.

You can dodge on the start panel towards the gate that takes you back to LA. It doesn’t auto-trigger (requires an interact), so you won’t die. This is not a bug specific to this minigame though, the death animation/position just sometimes gets stuck. I haven’t found a pattern to it :/
