Last night I went around and did several world boss events (Tequatl, The Shatterer, Risen Priest of Melandru, Risen High Wizard off the top of my head) and in most cases the bonus chest appeared in the lower right corner of the screen. However, occasionally, the chest doesn’t appear at all and the item that should be contained in it goes directly to my inventory.

I hadn’t fought the Risen High Wizard in about a week and I was rather confused when the bonus chest didn’t appear after defeating him. But then I took a closer look at my inventory and there was a single rare item that wasn’t there before he was defeated.

I’m not sure how to reproduce this issue as it seems to be rather random whether it occurs or not. In most cases the chest appears as it should but every now and then the item just gets sent directly to my inventory. Other people at the high wizard event were saying the same thing has been happening to them.

This only seems to happen for the bonus chests after fighting world bosses. The other bonus chests from fractals, daily/monthly achievements, etc. always appear.

I included that information in my post. I specifically said that I hadn’t done the Risen High Wizard event at all for at least a week (the events leading to it were bugged on my server). This isn’t an issue of me not getting the rewards from the event. The guaranteed rare appears in my inventory when the event ends. But the bonus chest itself doesn’t consistently appear.

So to reiterate, it’s an issue with the chest not appearing at all despite still getting the daily reward for the event. I understand how the new system works. The problem is it isn’t working consistently.

Both yesterday and today I killed SB, got the normal chest (the physical one that spawns right where he is killed and contains blues and greens) but I did not get any rare item or special daily style chest pop up. He is the only boss I kill and I only do it once a day. If anyone know how I can go back to getting my daily rare or how to fix this bug, I’d be very thankful.

I’m having the same problem of not getting the special chest. I killed Fire Elemental yesterday and Shadow Behemoth today.

My bf just did tequatl with me and myself got the golden medal, the special chest and the normal chest and he got nothing except the golden medal.
We both did it for the first time today and under the exact same conditions.

It is also that same character with whom he recently got diminishing return and he does nothing wrong with him (we have several alts that play together, so he gets punished with that certain character for doing the same things I do, but not me..). Hopefully it’s not related that he is a ranger with a brown bear. ^^
He is not a bot.

I had a similar (but worse) problem today. After completing both Frozen Maw and Fire Elemental today, both for the first time of the day, I got the normal boss chest but no bonus chest. I carefully checked my inventory as well, and there were no new rares there either.

I just did Megadestroyer and Tequatl today, and I got no bonus chest for either event.

I haven’t gotten a single special chest since the patch. It’s really annoying.

And no comment from Anet on any of these topics. It would be nice to know it this is a known issue and if they intend to hotfix or patch. I do not enjoy killing these guys for no real reward as they are, if nothing else, time consuming.

What classes do you play?
So maybe we can exclude that it does affect “bots” (rangers with brown bears for example ^^)..
With other characters my bf never had any issue with diminishing return or no chest or whatever..

I play a warrior and I do not have a bear. =p

ArenaNet doesn’t always respond to every bug report or complaint directly. I’m not really concerned that they haven’t said anything about this yet. It’s very likely they just haven’t gotten to it yet or they may want to investigate it more before commenting. Either way, it isn’t a big deal to me. But this issue definitely needs to be looked at for obvious reasons. I highly doubt the class or the pet you have has anything to do with this. Bot detection is far more sophisticated than that.

Interestingly, I haven’t had this problem again since I experienced it the first time and I’ve been intentionally doing as many world boss events as possible to try to get it to happen again. So far the bonus chest has always appeared. It doesn’t sound like it’s actually fixed though since the rest of you still seem to be experiencing it. If it happens again I’ll post an update with as much info as possible.

Again no rare chest today on Megadestroyer. Did get one on the Golem Mark II event, though.

Since the update I have received one bonus chest the very first time and none since and I no longer get rares from the regular big chest that has always spawned. Be nice if this problem would be addressed by an anet rep.

Megadestroyer does not give a bonus chest nor the updated chest, despite dropping an Ancient Chest.

Same problem, getting gold on event and the ‘main’ chest but not getting the bonus chest with the daily rare.
It’s only happening (so far) on my lvl20+ mesmer and 30+ necro. Working as it should on my 80s.
Is anyone else still having problems or know a fix or had any response?

I wrote it in another thread concerning that matter: as far as I remember, in the patch from 26. March they moved the guaranteed rare to the ‘additional chest’, which you can receive once a day per account. The also said, however, that to receive rares from the mega bosses, the character needs to be at least level 40, so in my opinion this works exactly as intended…

Is that working as intended?
My bf and me have several characters with lvl 80.
We only do the boss events once per day per account. (There always lies the reset in between)
Every time we do the same events together.
I always get the golden medal, the special mini chest and the regular boss chest.
Sometimes (especially with his ranger and it happened with Tequatl and Behemoth) he only receives the golden medal, no special chest, no regular chest.

No, that cannot work as intended.
We are lvl 80.
We only do it once.
We do exactly the same (sometimes with the same professions.. my ranger receives the chests, his not ^^).

A fix would be nice.

I had read the patch notes and no mention, but looking again at them on forum I see the extra post where daily/bonus rare chest does not occur for under lvl 40s. Kinda gutted that my little guy doesn’t deserve them when he is levelling, but can understand why it’s been done I spose

This is what i see from my end. I have 9 alts that camp their specific world events and nothing more. So no need to jump around waisting silver and time.
Most of the time i get my gold medal, my bonus chest and the large chest as intended.
When i only get the gold metal it’s time to swap location with another alt and that fixes the issue for a few days. I do feel it’s not right doing the event and not getting the intended reward, having alts at times can be a punishment.

hmm. no bonus chest or boss chest from shadow behemoth. completed 2 times tonight, the first time (acc wide) being the first for today. only received medal and silver. shouldn’t have to keep repeating it over n over again on the same day to get the chests just once.

In the past hour I received the gold medal from Shatterer and the Golem with no chests spawning at either event(no bonus chest either). I haven’t completed either event since the daily reset.

If I remember it right, in that particular case the only good thing is that you can try it with another character (or even the same?) and it might be that you receive the bonus chest and regular chest the second time.
It doesn’t make much sense, but it’s worth a try.

At least half the time at Yeq and Behemoth I get nothing but the medal.
I can’t remember it happening at any other Boss.

Getting kinda annoyed about it now… Yesterday it took me like 3/4 hours without getting anything of it… Same for today spent 2 hours on pre events, bosses name it and getting nothing…

I’m not feeling to do any events atm because i’m afraid is pent a lot of time in it for nothing… Already sended a mail to support and the only i get back is thnx for the bug report. So i sended back if there really wasn’t anything they could do about it, and i got back sorry we can’t assist you in you request… Really?

That it is still happening is one thing that is unacceptable.
That we do not get a confirmation that they are aware of that issue and trying to fix it, is another one…

2nd shatterer fight for the day. no chests first or second time. this is getting old

I only use level 80 characters in world boss events. And yet the bonus chest occasionally doesn’t appear for me despite not having done the event at all for over 24 hours.

So, no, this isn’t always working exactly as intended. It’s very rare that the bonus chest doesn’t appear but it isn’t because I’m not a high enough level or have already done the event that day.

• since this update i didnt get a bonus-chest from maw. I do this event every day – it makes me a little bit angry beause i dont get this “great” bonus-chest. I send every time bug reports with screen. Sometimes the normal chest is missing too although i get gold reward for the event!
• Sometimes the bonus-chest is missed for shatterer (i wrote bug reports too, because i get gold reward and normal chest).
• today i dont get bonus chest from fire ele.
• yesterday i dont get any chest from jormag.

Been happening since the March 26th patch….not getting chests from different bosses on a daily basis, just stop bothering trying, but I would like to able to have access to similar rewards that other people doing the same event actually get

Been happening to me more recently. Twice with Shatterer last night. Earlier today with Fire Elemental. I finally got the Shatterer one after changing maps.

I noticed that these events gave me way less exp than usual. I’m talking 782ish for gold at Shatterer, when the normal was like 10k+ for my 80 at Shatterer. Is this DR, or some type of bug, thinking my character isn’t the appropriate level?

Attachment is of FE. Third time trying, still no chest, changed maps as well. The amount of event reward I get is way too low for an 80, since the rewards scale to your level.

Nobody on the Northern Shiverpeaks server has gotten the bonus chest from Megadestroyer for at least the last 4 days.

Not amused.

Right now in my next try with my necro I received the medal and both chests whereas my bf only got the gold medal (he took another character as with whom he received everything the last time as I did not with my ranger) and not the bonus chest (because he already got it for today), but also no boss chest (you can get the boss chests with each character once per day, right? so he did not receive it with that character).

How do we qualify for these chests?

Happened again for me at Shatterer. Receiving less exp/karma/money reward from the event completion than normal and no chests for first completion for two days in a row.

4 Times today alone between teq and golem I have not received my boss chest. I just started playing again 5 days ago. It has happened at least once everyday since I started.

Update: My toon may be bugged. I have not recieved a chest since I posted.

I typically do Shatterer, Tequatl, Shadow Behemoth, and Golem Mark 2 every day as I’m trying to save up enough ectos for a legendary.

Pretty much at least one out of those 4 will bug out daily and I will get no boss chest and no daily chest, despite getting a gold-level medal. I do not server hop, and I always make sure to do this once per daily reset period. I use different characters for each event (have 4 alts parked in those locations). It does not matter whether I’m part of a party or not.

It’s been happening sporadically for at least the last few weeks. This bug is extremely aggravating, I hope they’ll fix it soon.

This happened to me last 3 nights in a row for Teq chest. Every single time, I won the Gold Reward with Xp, Karma bonuses (so I’ve been putting enough damages) but no Rare chest and Dragon chest showing up for me. I was in JQ server. Come on. Please fix it. It’s not fun when you waiting for 30 minutes for the event and got no boss chest.
