World Boss Causes Skill Lag
I am experiencing massive skill lag/latency at world boss events. I have also noticed other players complaining about the same issue in map chat, at these events.
My ping before the event, even with the crowd, will be 30-40ms. But as soon as the boss spawns, it goes above 120ms!
It is impossible to cast any utility/elite skills while the event is up because of the massive latency and lag spikes.
I cast a ’Hunter’s Shot’ ability on my Ranger (Longbow #3) and it took roughly 5seconds before I stopped attacking and went into stealth. This clearly indicates a latency issue.
If this was happening throughout the day, constantly, or regularly I would accept that it might be my ISP or Router etc. However, I have absolutely no issues in PvP, WvW and Dungeons/Fractals it is only happening at world boss events! The timing on the lag is just too specific to be anything other than some kind of issue relating to world boss events.
I have attached a screenshot from the daily wurm event. While waiting for the event, with the crowds, my ping was 40ms. As soon as the pre-event and boss event were up, my ping was 80-90ms with massive skill lag. As soon as the boss died, my skills we fine again.
I have had this issue since the very first introduction FOV UI patch. All skills are almost unusable in world bosses with a lot of people. My FPS and performance is fine but skills are almost unusable especially AOE. If I try to use them from a distance they don’t work at all and keep resetting so I have to keep trying and get no hits in because of it. Before the patch they would flash and eventually hit now they cancel out so they are almost all useless. It’s made the game almost unplayable and boring lately because it’s affecting my rewards on bosses and they have not fixed it there were threads about it affecting PvP when it was implemented now I see nothing about it and no reply to yours.

This is still an ongoing issue, and we are yet to see a responce and/or fix for it.
I think I’ve been encountering something similar since the 6/23 update. At world bosses, I find that my warrior can’t reliably activate some of the skills with slightly longer activation times, such as banners. Within about a half second of activating the skill, it suddenly cancels, despite no incoming damage, interrupts, etc. Sometimes, I can’t even activate the skill at all. Faster activating skills like weapons attacks and stances don’t seem to have this issue.

This is still ongoing. I just attmpted Tri-Wurm and was unable to do anything while the boss was alive, as soon as it died, the lag was gone!
This is obviously a server-side latency and/or performance issue that needs to be resolved!
