[WvW] Impossible to play WvW in guild, queuing screwed
That is the reason our guild transferred to an almost empty server. Right now, we can almost join WvW whenever we want, but a sideeffect is that we’re always losing.. :P
1) Agreed Queue is very long
2) Not Adreed the game is not playable. It can take an hour to get in. After that you are in.
3) It would be great if there was a clear numrical repersentation of ones place in the queue. I hope they take this suggestion to heart in the very near future.
4) I know it is already hard enough for the people to get in, but I think a persons place in WvWvW needs to be reserved on game crash or disconnection interruption up to 10 minutes. (Unless the person specifically selected Go to character select or “Log out” they should be able to rejoin their party after returning from a crash.

I hope this helps. A lot of bots are doing this.
Not sure if this is the same issue I’ve been having but you might want to try it. For what ever reason when I’ve queue up for Eternal it’ll get stuck. So last night I just keep queuing up for each of the WvW maps until one of them let me in(this took maybe 2 minutes). Once in I went to the Eternal gate and was able to get in without a queue at all.
Again not sure it’s the same issue but it’s worth a shot since this has only been happening for in the past couple of day’s.
The que is not problem ye every time u can have around 400pps per map . and its legit cuz its world vs world u cant make few diferent instances cuz then it lose the point . if it realy makes u that mad go to some low populated server like some big guilds done =]
i think w8ing 1 hour is not that long do some other stuff while w8ing .
the problem is if some one go on que after u and then get in before u … that really sux and the after crash need to rque thats bad as well
the problem is:
The maps are to small. They should have look at Daoc’s rvr maps before creating.
Its more fun if there is space between the keeps. More Space for 1on1s,2on2s, walking around with your little group. If the map is small the chance is getting bigger being zerged.
Constantly have the same issue. For example yesterday I spent in the queue to Eternal Battlegrounds more then 2 hours, while my guild mates queued later for the same battleground, but got in in ~10-20 minutes.
We need an actually working queue system, and it should be possible for parties to join the battle grounds too. Right now it takes ages to get into battle ground as a party. (I think it waits for enough places to free up at the same time for party to join, but if people are leaving battleground 1 by 1 – single players get prioritized over parties)
Have to agree queue times are horrendous on Stormbluff Isle. Most guildmates will have to wait 2 hours usual up to 3 hours to get into a map. That is not very friendly to people who have limited time. The only way we ever seem to all get in together is when WvW resets and he instant queue when it come back up.
The queue also doesn’t seem to be a queue. People that queued later get in sooner than others. That needs to be addressed.
There should be 2 separate ques. One for premade Guild groups, and the solo que. Let the Zone fill up with an even amount of guilds, then fill in the space with the solo ques.
Cæroh — Thief – HoD
Average time to enter WvWvW on my server is not 1h but 4 hours and we have guildmates queuing all day (more than 8 hours) without being able to enter while some other can enter, go out and re-enter meanwhile, so there is definitely something screwed with the queue.
Second point, some WvWvW map are less populated and everyone would benefit from knowing how much people are queuing for each map.
The key point is that if you bother creating a guild structure, build alliances and you are not able to log in and play together it is not worth bothering.
These issues (bugged queue and WvWvW population limit) must be addresses and i (and my guilmates) really long to hear something from arenanet on this.
Totally impossible to form any sort of Guild WvWvW event when you can’t reliably all get in at the same time. Queue’s are clearly broken and without any indication of where you are in the queue (doesn’t need to be time based, but just an indication of where you are in that queue) how are any Guilds supposed to put together any kind of strategy.
Add to that the fact that the queues don’t even let people in in order…..
This clearly need to be higher up on the “To Fix” list.
The problem is IMO everyone wants to play EB I que for all 4 maps at a time and never wait too long to get into a map. Once in I can jump between the maps using the waypoints without it putting me in a que.
EDIT: I’m not sure if this is a bug or intended so if it’s a bug/exploit please don’t bash me in the head with the ban hammer as I assume it’s supposed to work this way :P
My solution is two-way:
1) there should be an option to queue as a group, as in the leader of the party queueing for all the people in his party. This way 5 people could get in at the same time instead of random times.
2) write what number you are in a queue, and the approximate untill you get it, this would enable people to coordinate joining as they would be aware how long it will take them to get it.
Once in I can jump between the maps using the waypoints without it putting me in a que.
Then you are lucky, even when i (and my guildmates too) am in WvWvW, i am impacted by the (broken) queue like if i was queuing for this map from outside.
Any solution that allows guild event is fine for me, preventing WvW guild events as it is now is ruining our game experience (at least for WvW guilds).

There is something odd going on with queues, because apparently some people can cut the line. Either that or others are constantly sent back to the beginning of it.

Just make mirrored matches! when all 4 maps fill up the match up is mirrored by the same 3 servers, points gained in the mirrored match gets added to the scores in the prime match up but cause it’s not in the original match points and xp gained are less due to balance issues that could happen. When ppl leave the prime match up maps the players on the mirrored maps would be taken back to the prime map. Everyone can then enjoy WvW without queues. How about that for a fix?

If bots were doing this, lets hope queues will go down, though I have my doubts…
I’d rather see a similar increase of capacity on the Wv3 servers as ANet did for the PvE servers. Only this way the queues can (will?) be lowered.
Don’t be confused, queue length is a thing that need love we all agree with that but our main issue is that queue is bugged and unpredictable (in some cases you will NEVER enter whatever the server load is).
Average time to enter WvWvW on my server is not 1h but 4 hours and we have guildmates queuing all day (more than 8 hours) without being able to enter while some other can enter, go out and re-enter meanwhile, so there is definitely something screwed with the queue.

This post summarizes the issues I’ve seen nicely.
Until the queue is fixed and working like a queue should (with some visibility please) then it’s impossible to address any of the other server or queue balancing issues.
This game is called “Guild Wars”… feels more like “Queue Wars”. Our Guild tries every night and we have yet to actually get a decent force together to be able to actually do anything strategic.
I also think an auto-kick method should be implemented for who is AFK-ing to long in WvW.
I often see lot of people simply standing there for a long time near the entrance portals that could make room for active players.
They are probably waiting for the rest of their friends and guildies to get through the queue.
There is a global auto-kick for the whole of GW2. I know because it’s hit me several times.
Maybe those multiple hour queue times are the result of a bug, that if you re-queue the same map, it dumps you back to the beginning of the queue?
The queue is more of a lottery system then an actual queue. Its absolutely horrendous that this has not recieved the attention it deserves. For many of us WvW is not only our end-game but its everything in between. Wv3 is what will keep me in GW2 long after everything else and to see it cast to the side like this is a shame.
Just so all of you are aware AN has actually already take an official stance on this via twitter.

It already exists. If you are idle for too long in WvWvW, you get a warning that you’ll be kicked in 60 seconds, and then you get kicked if you remain idle (there may be other warnings as well. I didn’t notice, because I got distracted by something in real life and moved as soon as I saw the warning. In fairness, I was on the walls of a garrison waiting for enemy attacks).

No, it only says that raising the cap on the maps is not an acceptable sollution, to which I agree 100%. But there are lots of other sollutions and I am certain that they are working on alternative options.

I don’t see anything of note, here. Doesn’t look official at all.
Reason for queue taking forever:
It is fun. People don’t like to leave once they get in. I don’t blame them, nothing in PvP feels quite as satisfying as storming Stonemist Keep in a pitched battle that can’t be accurately decided with a guess.
A number of exploits for Karma and EXP. A notable one used to be the ‘20 people guarding one Dolyak and getting 1/5th their level in EXP’ exploit. There are several others I need not go into.
My queue is usually about ten to thirty minutes when I queue from the actual WvWvW gates. I just wander around Lion’s Arch getting Vistas/looking at cool stuff around town as I wait.
One other thing: You seem to be forgetting that this is a brand new MMO. There are bound to be a lot of annoying issues, but that’s simply the way with new MMOs. Besides, at least things -work-. This isn’t SWTOR, be grateful for that.
So we won’t have any answer from arenanet on this, this is normal to have a bugged queue ?
This is normal not being able to organize guild events in a game called “guild wars” ?
@Frosty, not agreeing with you, it is starting like SWTOR, fixing useless stuff and leaving some game breaker stuff not fixed and not even acknowledged. So we are yet in wait state.
You are able to enter fine for you, most of my guildmates can’t as they play after job from 19PM to 00PM and cant enter WvW in this time period mainly because of the queue bug. They are level 80 and WvW only player, guess what they are not so happy a the moment (waiting 5h at lions arch is not that fun).

We may have a cumulative afk timer like; You did afk once 2min then 1min sometime later then 3min…When total comes to a fixed amount like 10min, you ll be kicked out of WvW.
This won’t fix the queue bug !
some of it may be from bugs.
they need a queue position indicator.
mostly though if you’re sitting in queue all night because the server is full — they have already implemented a fix for this. free server transfers are in effect.
we’ve known wvw will have population limits since beta. they have servers with no queues and at the same time are offering free transfers to them. some people want to stack on a winning server so they can have more points for whatever reason but you pay for that voluntarily with queue times.
voluntarily being the key word.
You’re missing the point, some guildmate can’t enter while some other queuing after will without waiting much, this is not about server load.
And please stop with the server transfer which is a foolish argument. First there is no “low populated server” for my language for instance. Second guild structures and alliances has been created before the game launch so if alliances move then any “low populated server” (which doesn’t exist anyway for my language) will become a “high populated server” (some players will follow any alliance move) so we would be at the same point. Or maybe this game is not for guild structures and alliances ? Is it what you mean ?

1. Many resource farmers fill the player slots on WWW.
Solution: Posibly you can remove these resources/mobs – it will reduce load.
2. Also there are many peoples following caravan in safe zones and gain too much free exp + resources from mobs on the way. I saw whole guilds that use this way to lvl up.
Solution:
a) Make 0 reward for defending caravan, if caravan hasn’t been attacked by enemy players and destination waypoints (tower/keep) aren’t under siege. Or make great penalty for this rewards.
Common solution:
Make great penalty for drop/reward at WWW if player doesn’t participate in siege or pvp for a long time.
They removed the Dolyak farming and queues were still 4 hours yesterday on HoD all while being completely lottery style on who gets in. This is becoming a bit of a joke, I half imagine an Anet dev sitting there laughing as they randomly pick a number to allow into the Wv3. Let me preface to say that I’m not sure if this a bug or a difference in opinion on how the WvW queue should be implemented.
I regularly see people get into WvW before I do despite queuing after me and vice versa. In fact, there have been times that I will be in the queue for 3+ hours only to hear that a friend got in after being queued for 10 minutes. Assuming the WvW queue is implemented as a first in first out then this is an obvious bug. It would be nice to get some sort of indication as to your queue placement to help in these situations.
On the other hand, if the queue is implemented as a sort of random lottery then this post is a plea to rethink this and go with another implementation. I am growing very frustrated with 5 hour long WvW queues and it is only made worse by the seemingly randomness of how people get in WvW.
I have the same problem. My partner and I play on separate computers in the same room. We’re on the same server. Last night, for example, I’d been queued for WvWvW for 30 minutes. She queued at that time (for the same Borderlands I did, but 30 minutes later), and she got into WvWvW 10 minutes before I did. She also only waited about 10 minutes, while my total wait time was 50 minutes.
Bump,
Still not even considered to be fixed by arenanet.
me and my friends who comprise a PvP-centric guild that took part in the BWEs were super excited to get in WvW on launch as a guild and make a difference for our server. however, on top of not being able to get in together, most of the time our queues simply never pop, or pop 4+ hours later.
sadly, as it stands this week a few of my guild haven’t even logged in the past few days since the main reason they wanted to play GW2 was for the WvW and have been unable to play together as a team.
this is a potentially serious issue as it can determine whether players will stick with GW2, or simply move on/back to more PvP guild friendly games.
I know that some servers don’t have WvW queues, Jade Quarry certainly does. Is there anything that can be done by ANet to help this situation?
4-5 hour queues for Borderlands PvP (I don’t care for the battleground stuff, had enough of that in other games, I want my DAoC fix!) kind of takes the wind out of your sails.
Can player pop caps be raised for Borderlands? What happens if you open the flood gates and just let everyone in?
High pop servers will have a pretty long wait (Jade Quarry one of them). They have stated in the past that pop caps are used to maintain balance and not create problems with fps, I believe. I think your only choice is to transfer to a lower pop server.
This is the single most frustrating thing in GW2 for me right now… no idea if I’m actually qued for WvW or bugged. Another night of 3+ hour ques and I watch as guild members log in and que for the same zone, and get in there in 5 mins.
I don’t mind waiting for long ques, but I DO mind waiting in a Que that is completly bugged.
Waited 9 pm- 1 am EST to get in WVW…didnt get in. Now I’ve been qued for 2 hours 11am-1pm. My little brother got in in 10 mins this morning, and my buds got in in 20 mins last night. This is ridiculous and very disappointing as I only had this weekend to play with them
Last night with the Guild getting together for WvW the queue’s where completely broken. People waiting 5 minutes to get in while others that queued before waiting 4 hours and never get in.
Player A joins the Queue
Player B Joins the Queue 20 minutes later
Player C joins the queue 10 minutes after player B
10 minutes later Player C gets in
75 minutes later player A gets in
4 hours later player B Still has not gotten in.
I was seeing a lot of cases of the above, wasn’t issues with them being in overflow, some tried relogging and queue (and in some cases that got them in before people who’d been waiting for ages but in some cases they just never got in either)
And the worst thing about it was the WvW lands seemed relatively empty compared to normal even sooo.. huh?
This seriously needs to be fixed and looked into if its not already. I couldn’t find another thread on this, hopefully I didn’t miss something obvious.
I’m really surprised this hasn’t gotten more attention, it’s next to impossible to get our guild together if que pops are given out randomly.
- Either players are somehow jumping the que ahead of others due to a bug.
- Either players in a Que are having the timer reset, or it’s removing the player from the que without indicating it. (via the icon on the top right)
This has happened to every player on our guild at certain times and pretty much every other guild we’ve talked to. It’s happened on each of the 4 WvW maps. After 4 hours I just relog and re-que when guildmembers can just log in and get in after anywhere from 5 mins – 1.5 hours.
It’s a WvW lottery, not a que. This needs fixed ASAP, it’s annoying and frustrating, and preventing people from playing together.
The nearest we have been able to figure out is that it seems to be prioritizing classes that are lacking in the particular borderland/EB. Our thiefs seem to wait the longest, while less played classes are getting quick queue pops.
I waited 3 hours one night, created an Elementalist, since our server seemed to be lacking in them, and my queue popped in 15 minutes. Normally I would chalk this up to coincidence but I tested it for a full week with the same effect.
However it does appear to be random, and some insight from ArenaNet would help a lot to know if this is “working as intended” or bugged.
WvW is supposed to be unbalanced, I sure hope that is not the case. A que is just that. You pick a number, wait for that number to be called in chronological order and then enter WvW. If there is some formula that takes into account class, natural lvl 80’s (as opposed to lvl 2’s bumped to 80) when balancing servers… get rid of it. All it’s doing is preventing guilds from actually playing together.
Whatever the issue is, it needs corrected ASAP. We need a working que system that let’s people into WvW according to when they qued. I understand that there are a number of issues that arenanet is focused on, but this is the single most frustrating thing for me in the game. Since release the most guild members we’ve had in a single zone is 10 out of 100 members. We’ve had roughly 35 people que together for a single zone and the “pop” timers range from 5 mins to 4.5 hours.
How can friends and guilds play together with that discrepancy?
on a medium pop server, 4 hour wvw queue. what is going on?
