cant change color of Pants on Messmer
I thought I encountered a similar problem, and maybe this might help.
When you purchase a armor, be whatever it actually is, it has it’s own default dye settings, and some of those dyes you may not of acquired or unlocked (a common misconception is ebony being the same as black), if you don’t change all of the dye slots to ones you have already unlocked, the item will keep reverting back to it’s original colors, regardless of if you haven’t unlocked them already.
TL;DR – Change all the dye slots to colors you have unlocked.

Hi! Thanks for your answer. I already tried that but it didnt worked. I changed all my armor to red and then black ice (not sure about that name) but didnt worked. I always get that kitten coral..

I have the same issue on my Warrior except its the whole armor set. I can’t save any colors period. I purchased the Charr T3 heavy armor and colored it to my liking and forgot all about the stats. I then remembered I wanted to transmute them for different stats, and as soon as I did that, all my colors vanished and won’t hold any settings I set now, same as you.
I’ve changed them all to ebony, exited the color screen, and it reverted back to “Dye Remover”. I tried changing them to exactly what I had before the transmute and again “Dye remover”. Funny thing is, if I pick the dye remover from the top to “remove” the dye, it actually paints my character to the colors I last had before the transmute. It still doesn’t stick though. I then tried to unequip the armor and when I removed it all, my game crashed.
Anyone have any idea whats going on?
EDIT:
I went back to change more colors and it looks like my colors are bugged to specific slots. If before the transmute I had gold on head section A and I try to paint it gold again, it won’t save, but any other color in its place works.
This really sucks, 120g for armor and I can’t even use the colors I wanted on it.

The dye in question though, yes only one dye seems to cause this, is my Illumination Dye. My Celestial, Sapphire, Redemption and Amber work fine. Might not even be the armor, maybe it has something to do with the dyes.

Same problem with my Mesmer but in the Shoes area… whatever color I try it’s always Purple!

I have the same problem and when I try to unequip the problematic gear, the client crashes.
Same problem whit my trasmuted t3 human light , can’t change color and client crash when i try to unequip. Please fix!

Im unable to change the color of the pants on my messmer. Its awful coral and every time i try it lasts as long as it takes to close my doll then its reverted back. Yes i used the “save” button (forgot the proper name) and yes i tried to remove color. On every other toon on my accounts it works BUT my messmer is doomed. I Ticketed now 4 Times and not even a answer. Please fix this or atleast fix my messmer. I get sick when i see that color.

After a Rage Quit Server i changed to a new one AND… i could change the color of my pants!!!! So the Problem was Server dependent!
MY Problem is solved. I dont know if that solves yours.

I have a mesmer that is now colored half light blue on the top half with his coat, that matches my elementalist’s colors, and the bottom half has remained the original colors I chose when I created him. The problem started with me switching to a new Acolyte coat and now no matter what coat I put on him, it is always the color scheme of my Elementalist, which is completely different than the color scheme of my Mesmer. Don’t know what to do about it and I have not reported it as a bug yet, because I wanted to check for similar problems here first.
P.S. Coat was not transmuted
