Folks at Anet, the charged quartz return from your patch after buying gifts from glory was bugged as you well know. I have religiously been crafting my daily charged quartz for months, so I would be one of those people who really tried to have celestial in the game. Now you have all these folks who never did that, sitting on nearly 100 charged quartz just from opening gifts, able to craft whatever celestial they wish, only because they were bugged for a few hours.

Just like you have done in the past with other items, I would like to see you go into these people’s inventory, pull out the charged quartz they obtained during the bug and exchange it for the unopened gifts with their current return.

If that proves difficult, another solution would be to award the average drop of charged quartz during the bug to those players who have been converting the quartz consistently since the beginning.

I get that it stinks and stuff, but I don’t understand how it personally affects you. No one can make money off of this… Most people who got them do not even have a use for them. Sure most people would not be affected by the quartz being taken, but I really need to understand what negative impact it has on you.

The bug essentially undermined the efforts of players who took the time to mine/charge their Quartz such that players like myself are now sitting on a nice heap of them without the same dedication. (Granted, I charged ~50 of my own during/after Zephyr Sanctum, but stopped when I found no real use for them.) This also caused the value of Quartz to drop significantly, as players had easy access to Charged Quartz with no real need for the lesser material.

Elestian explained it very eloquently. Consequently, I do not understand why you do not see how it affects the people who mined it. The people who mined it were doing so, so they could eventually craft celestial for their characters. Celestial is supposed to be crafted by those who put the time and effort to mine it. It is pretty simple. It is not for those who opened 200+ gifts bought with glory, in a bugged event. We play with but also against each other. We dedicate a lot of time to this. And our efforts to put ourselves in an advantageous position matter to us. This is an MMO and that is what these games are all about. You put the time, you get your reward. If you do not do that, then you do not deserve to get the same results as those who do. This bug put an unfair imbalance in something that was meant to be hard to acquire.

100% true but my focusing in the glory is because I do not have a problem with gifts acquired in the new event via farming the event (the ugly sweaters and such). The problem I have with glory is because a lot of us were sitting on big piles of it and did not even know what to do with it until this. All of the sudden people got an insane return in their accumulated glory with the charged quartz return.

Nonetheless, the point is that I believe Anet should do something about this. I proposed a couple of solutions and I do not know how hard it is to implement. I know there have been things like this such as when the elonian wine cost twice its regular price. Players who bought it during that period were refunded the gold. Now, I know that is probably simpler than the quartz situation. But not addressing it at all simply because it is tricky seems pretty unfair.

I know this sounds whiny. And it probably is. But I have a hard time seeing people being rewarded for doing nothing with something a few of us have been allocating time every day to do.

I’m not sure I understand. You say you had lots of glory that you didn’t know what to do with until you found out you could spend it on gifts. Gifts that could be had a multiple of ways. And now you are upset because you got too many charged quartz from said gifts? I guess you could always destroy them if you don’t want them. I don’t know.

Actually I did not take advantage of the bug at all. I do not know where in this thread that you have carefully read I indicated so.

Ahh, I see. You are concerned that others spent their glory on gifts, and you did not. I can see how that would be upsetting.

I spent some glory on gifts, …today. As we needed gift for the daily. I wish I had one of those nodes that give quartz, then I could have an unlimited supply…but sadly, I do not. Some things we get in-game, and some things we miss out on. =(

Instead of asking me why I care, just think about the fact that this has been already acknowledged as a problem by Anet, who fixed the issue hours into the release. Now, in order to advance the thread is to know if and how will Anet compensate players for this.

Once a bug has been fixed in the past, Anet has either taken action to compensate players or has not. In this case, my belief is that they should. I do not need more charged quartz. As I said, I have plenty I mined over the months. But I do not believe the players who took advantage of the bug should have many.

Maybe replace 9 out of each 10 for a regular quartz for those who openened gifts during the bug? I know some of that quartz may be gone by now and this is a tricky issue. But I am just don’t think Anet should completely ignore it.

And, for the record, it truly exhausts me beyond belief when people just tru to sound smart and question people’s good intentions in the forums. If you have something to contribute, do so, but do not make assumptions about others.

I don’t think it affect you in a negative way. You said the prices of quartz dropped a lot because almost everyone got their charged ones already.. so you’ll have to put less money into them now, if you want a piece of celestial.
I remember when I crafted my first celestial set for my ele, there was some kind of satisfaction to it, because I spent a few minutes every day for 30 days to finally be able to craft them, while if you get your charged crystals by opening gifts, it feels cheap, like if you don’t deserve it…
It’s in the past, Anet can’t do anything about it. Taking out charged crystals from us isn’t a solution since some people like me already used them for the ascended armors
