dark reverie jumping puzzle nearly impossible, platform too high
Myself and my guildies stayed there for 2 days just to get everyone through. I was the first to complete it.
I missed that jump about 15+ times in my efforts to help them test out ways to make it. Only successfully made it 3 times, and I was the first one to make it period! Talk about terrible odds. We rezzed the repeatly dead at the bottom while waiting for the last guildie to make it, confirming that everyone else severely struggled with that un-lowered mushroom.
I was also severely disappointed when a Thief gleefully told us he was able to use one of his abilities to effectively shadow step to it without having to make the jump. The mesmer couldn’t teleport. Why was the thief able to shadow step it?
I agree, I spent over an hour in that area trying to pass this puzzle and had no luck. I knew where to go and saw someone pass it but couldn’t do it myself. They had failed numerous times on the mushroom jump too. My character (human) seems to be unable to get through whether it be not being able to jump high enough or hitting my head on a mushroom above, I fall every single time. I also have some friends who have reported problems there also and always at the exact same part
I have the exact same problem, me and some friends tried it for almost an hour with no success. This really needs to be adjusted at least I a little bit. I don’t mind hard, but this is just ridiculous.

i’m a thief and i can confirm that the “shadowstepping to not jump” rumor is a myth. instead, you’ll be put at the very edge of the surface you’re at. at worse, you’ll end up falling because of that.
My guildie watched him do it. It worked for him. It might not have worked for you, but my guildie was staring at the jump when he did it, and was really irritated on VC about it. The thief was surprised about it. He said it did not work on any of the other mushrooms, but it did work for him on the hard to get to one.
I really wish fall damage just downed you instead of killing you outright. It would make jumping puzzles like this one a lot less irritating.
It’s very much possible, I did it both in Beta and in the released game. They actually adjusted the mushrooms slightly in the released game and added a chest at the top. There was no chest at the end in Beta and it was harder to get to.
They altered the mushroom before the one that’s giving people issues now so that you are less likely to plummet all the way down but instead can fall towards the big branch underneath it. I found it a lot easier to do now. You should’ve been in Beta if you think it’s bad now! Here you can see how the mushrooms at the top were different in Beta:
• Have you heard of the city? The ancient uru? Where there was power to write worlds •
Some puzzles just need a bit more trying.
You can jump on the stem of the shroom and from there onto the cap.
It took me over 50 tries to do it! Over 50!!
They NEED to make some changes:
- Put water down there. I had to start all times from Morgan Leap, since people didn’t resurrect me, because the place is filled with monsters, so they just run to the platforms where is safe, avoiding anything.
I even got a group of jerks laughing and dancing while corpses fell from the ceiling. And since they killed enemies on spawn, people had it easier to walk by and not helping those dead.
I had to spend almost 1 gold to revive by the waypoint, since for some strange reason waypoints in level 1-15 areas have level 80 costs when you are level 80.
Not fun.
- Allow entering if you completed Morgan’s Leap. The door doesn’t have to open, but let people go through it by using it. I opened the door every time I tried, but no one else did, so I had to start from Morgan’s Leap every time. Some people even laughed at me from the other side of the door when I asked if they could open it.
Not fun. Not fun at all.
- And for the love of Dwayna, properly place those platforms. There’s one that has a mushroom hat right in the middle of the jump, so you’ll hit it and fall to your dead when it looks like you’ll do it just fine. It doesn’t help having the camera moving around like crazy either. Suddenly turning around, or getting inside the back of my character all of a sudden mid-jump, or just shacking uncontrollably until I’m in the middle of a fall to my dead.
Not fun. Not fun at all. Not a bit.
I rarely ever get angry at anything, much less with games or fictional things. But a couple of tries more and I would have gone all angry german kid.
And this comes from a guy that got almost all achievements in Super Meat Boy and all of them in The Binding of Issac, and never got bothered a single bit by the constant deaths or tricky mechanics.
This puzzle is just wrong. Frustration is not fun.
it is not a jump puzzle if its easy so stop trying pull up your pants and do it no one else has had ANY problems with this except for fustration from dieing over and over =/
It doesn’t have to be easy, but it doesn’t have to be frustrating.
Look at Spekk’s Lavoratory or Goemm’s Lab.
Spekk’s Lavoratory lets you rety from each part of the jump, and resurrects you to the entrance if you die from a fall.
With Goemm’s Lab, you can die in some places, but it’s nothing like Dark Reverie, and if you fall, you get teleported instead going through the clouds to your dead, kissing the floor.
You can keep failing, but you can also keep trying again and again as much as you want.
They can be hard, but they are not that frustrating.
Failing until you get it right, trial and error, that can be fun.
Frustration, areas that seem to be designed tokitten off people, that is not fun.
I just completed this on my second attempt. The first time I tried to jump up from a straight vector of approach to the edge of the mushroom above with my speed buff. I died. Fell hard. The second time I jumped from a diagonal vector of approach higher up on the mushroom with my speed buff. Probably the height and angle allowed me to just get onto the mushroom above.
Too bad the reward was poor.
Me and my guildies actually tried this over several days, constantly dying. I think I worked hard towards my combat healer title during that time.
Fact is, you have to think outside the box, jump on the mushroom stem instead of the cap and it’s so easy we all fell over laughing when I figured it out. And it gave us a nice fuzzy warm feeling of having accomplished something. And that’s where the name “Achievement” fits perfectly.
You don’t have to let the game frustrate you. Go at it with some nice self-deprecating humour and you have a blast. At some point we even put on “I will survive” over skype. Only thing that bugged me a bit were the bramble thingies and the high amount of veteran enemies. This puzzle in a starter area lets a lot of lower lvl people think they could manage it, but they die like flies because of the mobs.
Still not fixed. From what I could see, it’s not just the relative height of the mushrooms, but invisible collision that is pushing you out/away from the place you need to jump. I’m not sure if that’s just a poorly implemented hitbox or purposely done this way to screw you over, but it’s apparent that no player considers this a legitimate challenge.
Jumping to the stem sounds more like a serendipitous workaround, but if that was actually intended, they need to do a better job of telegraphing it. The bug or bug-like nature of this jump combined with the extreme punishment for dying here is simply unreasonable.
Some puzzles just need a bit more trying.

People really should read this. Just because you can’t jump to where you think you should doesn’t mean you can’t jump at all. This jump can be made every time if you know where to jump to.
It is possible I have done it on an Asuran no less.
yeah. read the spoiler. it’s impossible to miss once you know the trick. easiest jump in the world if people would just look around.
LOL. After soooo much dying I come to this and finally done it… so easy. /cry
Another tips to save you the frustration, you can park an alt inside to open the door for you if you fell and died. My alt is only level 5 :p
