I have noticed that the damage on my iberserker seems to do about 50% less damage. I’m hitting the dummies and the difference between all the hits is roughly ~2k(now) and over 4k before the patch.

The only answer is, it MUST be a bug, so you didn’t know.
That’s fine :-), just change it back and we may overcome the fact that with every patch you nerf the mesmer into the ground. (I am speaking for PVE)

This is what I’ve just found out too in my recent testing after the patch. The initial first strike by Phantasmal Berserker does NOT do its full damage or it could be the number of hits for its first strike is reduced or the damage output for the first strike is reduced. This has to be bugged as the damage reduction is just game breaking. This further ties with the general survival ability issues with phantasms that rarely lives through its second attack, so that means our phantasm’s first strike is usually our measure for our overall DPS. The damage reduction is by as much as roughly ~50% and it’s very noticeable. My attack is 3k and with 25 stacks of superior sigil of bloodlust that brings up to about 3.3k attack. My crit chance is 60% and +crit damage is 40% and the first attack by Phantasmal Berserker on CRIT does 1400~2000 and without crit it hit just slightly over 1k. It’s a major disappointment to realize that my auto attack does the SAME damage as my Berserker. It feels really lackluster to kill things with GS now and our DPS using GS went down significantly after this patch.

Edit: I also noticed the average number of hits by Berserker is reduced down to just 2-3 hits per each of its swirl. That’s the result from what I just tested at HotM. My pvp mesmer stats has 2.7k attack, 58% crit chance and +37% crit dmg. Against stationary heavy golem, the initial attack by Berserker only does roughly 500~1k and my auto attack can sometimes hit more than that. It’s just absurd how our phantasm is behaving right now. This is too much of a hit for me that I find myself unmotivated to do anything and even lost my interest in the upcoming new event.

yeah i was just saying this in game… if this is a nerf then…… ADD NEW WEAPONS FOR US TO WIELD because i have no 2nd weapon worth taking for condition builds (before some1 bring the usual nabby comment “lol GS for condition builds” spatial surge clones stack tones of bleeding/berserker hits hard even in a condtion build and stacks aoe bleed and mirror blade for aoe confusion so yeah, GS soooo bad for condtion builds lolz). I have 3k attack, 45% crit rate and 20% additional crit damage – and Berserker is spewing out 500-900 CRIT on its first strike. That’s more than 50% less damage than it did pre-patch. Also, it feels like the crit rate has been reduced even with Phantasmal Fury traited – but I’m not sure if that’s my imagination or whether others have noticed it.

Confirmed. I’ve ALWAYS noted my mesmer does PATHETIC damage in PVE , but this makes iberzerker useless. I may as well use the GS auto attack and get more damage out of the same GCD.

Further analysis of this from the mesmer forums indicates this only applies to the first whirl, but the first whirl is usually the only whirl

I’m 99.5% sure it’s a bug and not one related to damage but when and where the initial “bladetrail” starts.

As a fresh 80 Mesmer with a cruddy 1700 power my first “bladetrail” did something like 600 damage to a random Cursed Shore Risen. It used to do around 2,000 damage or so.

First reaction was OMG WHAT DID THEY DO. Then I decided to let my iBerserker do all the work. Every “bladetrail” after the first did the normal ~2k it’s always done.

My best guess? The first several attacks miss due to where it spawns, afterward it’s position is better and the all land.

*All of the above done on stationary Cursed Shore Risen attacking NPC’s so the iBerserker doesn’t die instantly.

The issue is definitely that iBerskerer isn’t hitting as consistently as it used to. Additional whirls are just as random as the first (getting 0 to 3 possible hits). So it is not just the first whirl. Overall, this is a huge nerf to that phantasm, making it significantly weaker in damage output than any other phantasm (possibly excluding iMage and the utility ones) and unreliable in whether it will even hit or not.

I’m glad I didn’t get an exotic greatsword as I was planning this week, because now it is simply not an effective weapon to use.

In Orr, at Shelter Waypoint, there are 3 mobs that spawn about every 3 mins. I send my izerker in on those 3 and it goes in.. hits once for 1k damage to ONE MOB…and then dies. This is even with the trait “Persisting Images” (20% more health) & Signet of Illusions (50% more health). I have 2300 power so thats not the problem.
Ive run this spec prior to todays patch and the zerker has lived through the first twirl easily!
There’s definately a bug with the trait/signet

Soo frustrating and nothing has been even addressed by the devs :/

I’m definitely getting far fewer hits per swirl on the berserker, and each of the hits do seem to be hitting for less. I was easily hitting 3-4k per swirl per mob of the berserker, and now it often hits for 1-1.5k, which is really unacceptable.

I believe the iDuelist also does less damage, probably due to the same bug. Can’t comment on the iMage as I don’t use that. 10 minutes on a practise dummy, the most I could get out of iBerserker is 2.25k (i just let it hit it continually without recasting). This is down considerably where I would often get 5k+ in full exotic berserker gear.

The fact that a mesmer can’t hit the walls to break in, means the LOS is more of an issue now and basically made sieges pointless for us. LOS is a tad silly as I can clearly see what I’m trying to hit but …..

A run around the WvW zones after the patch I found it hard pressed to see another mesmer.

Berserker/phantasm’s are now missing initial hits, this needs fixing it’s a HUGE issue.

If you are changing the phantasms to be like direct damage damage abilities then there should be only one Hit/Avoid check. Either have it when cast or when it uses it’s abilities, not both.

There is no other skill ingame that when you target someone and use it can be avoided twice, they either hit or they miss they do not hit or miss then hit or miss again.

This needs to be fixed quickly, some acknowledgement of it would be a start.

Do they not test this kitten before releasing it?

The most frustrating about all the discussion we have is that ANET does not seem to react on it, neither give us any answer/feedback/sticky on the subject. As you (ANET) can see, we are quite annoyed by this fact. Can you show any support to your community by simply calming us down or notifying us that you follow these posts and that our bug reports are not in vein.

It’s definately a targeting issue.

The farther away a iBerzeker starts its spin, the more likely it will do its correct damage/hits. The problem is that it gets summoned in melee range, and is lucky to land more than 1 hit on its first pass.

Arena.net this needs to be fixed, as iBerzeker is one of the mesmer mainsources of reliable AoE damage.

The class is heavily crippled now in PVE.
