So i had this 250g infusion on my armor piece which i changed in the magic forge from dire to viper stats and it got deleted from the armor piece? Is this suppose to be like this??

yes it is supposed to be like that.

the anthology of heroes says:
Used with exotic inscriptions and insignias to change the stats on ascended weapons and armor in the Mystic Forge.
Warning: All upgrades will be lost.

you could try contacting support. they might be able to give you the infusion back.

The description on the Anthology of Heroes should be updated to be more explicit:
“Used in the Mystic Forge to create new ascended weapons or armor with the stats of an exotic inscription or insignia.
“Warning: use an infusion extractor to remove any infusions before using the forge — Zommoros will destroy all the original items, along with any infusions, sigils, and runes.”

• Using the forge doesn’t change the stats; the old gear is removed from the game and replaced.
• It’s better to explain what people should do to protect their upgrades rather than simply saying they will be lost.
• Although ‘upgrade’ is technically correct, not everyone realizes that means they are going to lose their sigils and runes.
