Q:
launcher crashes/freezes when I hit Play
Do you have any overlay programs active (e.g. Afterburner, Mumble overlay, Xfire’s overlay, etc)?
I’ve had issues with some of these in the past (particularly the mumble overlay), and the game would crash when you hit play (though it usually gave a crash error report when that happened for me). If you do have anything like those, try disabling the overlay(s) and see if that allows the game to actually start properly.

Thanks for the reply.
No I don’t have any of those programs. I do have Gamebooster, but I have tried to run GW2 with and without it.
Okay, so sorry in advance for Necroing a thread, but I still have not resolved this issue. I really would like to fix this so I can actually play the game.
Here is another strange thing that I have found about this problem. When I uninstall and reinstall, it will launch correctly ONCE with the new install, then it will not launch again…
I really would appreciate any help or suggestions anyone could give.
Thanks!
The first thing to try is to make sure the anti-aliasing setting in your CCC is set to Application Controlled. It normally fixes black screen issues for those that encounter them.
1. Right-click on your Windows desktop and select “Catalyst Control Center.”
2. Click the “Preferences” button in the top right.
3. Change “Standard View” to “Advanced View.”
4. Click the “Gaming” tab.
5. Click “3D Applications Settings.”
6. Change the “Anti-Aliasing” option to “Use application settings”
7. Click “Apply.”
Once completed, please try launching Guild Wars 2 again.
If this does not work then there may be other things to check.

Hey, thanks for the reply.
When I went to change it, I found that it was already set that way.
I already had it set to use application settings, so I guess that isn’t the problem.
The strange thing is, only the part of the launcher graphic that should be transparent turns black, the rest of the launcher stays normal until you click on it and it is not responding.
Once again, thank you for the suggestion.
