cant seem to get krepet to talk. I do have the chest, but… I’m wondering if it requires the character who purchased it? Because my human necro bought it, I added it to wardrobe, but since he didnt have that location mapped in metrica, switched to my asura mesmer.

and he cant get krepet to talk. My suspicion is I’ll have to use my human necro. But I dont have time to test that right now.

No, it doesn’t matter who purchased it, or who unlocked it.

He seems to be stuck…sigh.

The solution seems to be a combination of map hopping and being the first one to hit F near Krepet when he moves. He won’t move if people keep interacting with him, so everyone has to back off. Then it’s a duel to hit F first (and while you read your clues, no one else can chat with him).

An idea: Try going to the next step without chatting with him. He’s giving clues but maybe the game lets you open the chest without the clue. So head to north Wayfarer, the ice elementals just south of the svanir ice fortress. East side of the elementals, Frostfang will spawn (veteran ice elemental). Kill Frostfang, get the Hyperchill buff, and in under 5 minutes get to the Mount Maelstrom volcano’s lava down by the boss fight (if you’re lucky the wp won’t be contested, otherwise run in fast from the nw side). Hop in the lava, get a popup box which puts an item in your inventory, get out of the fire. You should have the mini.

If killing Frostfang without Krepet’s clue works, please let folks know. Frostfang respawns relatively quickly, I think it was under 2 minutes from someone finding him dead to him being up and about again when I was there.

Tried killing Frostblast (not Frostfang) withour talking to Krepet, does not work.

Hey! make sure you complete this on the character that picked up the treasure hunt. It will NOT allow you to use alts! I was attemting to complete with an alt and it didnt work. However, when i switched to the original toon, I completed it with no problem.
