i have a superior sigil of luck in offhand weapon focus as a mesmer and i dont get the benefit of magic find, or atleast i dont see the status somewhere.

Total MF isn’t displayed anywhere but the counter for the sigil of luck is displayed in the same location as boon/conditions. The sigil gives a stack per kill, you can only have one such sigil active at a time. If you already have stacks from one of the other on kill stacking sigils then the sigil of luck won’t work.
