after the current aug 25 patch, anybody else having short (a few seconds) of black screen everytime you go underwater from the surface? it’s not the blackscreen crash unplayable kind of thing, it’s like the black screen when your client re renders your game when you change your graphic settings. anyone else or just me?

I’ve started to get this today as well. It’s very annoying especially in WvW when you can’t be a slowpoke.

I also have this, noticed it since today’s update.

Since the patch earlier today (August 25th,2015), every time I dive underwater, my screen goes black for a moment and the game lags before loading my character in underwater. Anyone else having this happen?

For some reason after today’s patch I have been experiencing black screen when diving underwater. It doesn’t disconnect me or crash the game, but it happens every few seconds when Im under water. The black screen lasts about half a second each time.

I am getting the exact same bug.. but since my load time is longer the black screen lasts longer. When i enter the water, everything stops like the game is crashing, then pure black screen with only my curser, and then after about 10 seconds the game pops back up. Its like it is having to load the underwater scene or something like when changing zones. Only started happening after todays patch, never had this before, and i hope they fix it soon because it is a game breaker in wvw.

OMG I thought I am only have Mac beta with me can be cause. Turns out it wasn’t alone lol.

I could swore thought it was my graphic options can be caused it. I tried change setting and none luck. I went underwater by around 4 times over and none changes. But it bothers me so much. I hope they should check fix it.

You are not alone this. My friend told me about did play pvp today and their game client just went vanished without realized it was crashes.

I’m getting something similar every time I dive underwater. The game hangs for a second or so (no black screen or invisible client; FPS just drops to near-zero). It’ll slowly recover after that.

I get this too!! and it also changed my graphics settings when I go under water or change map and I have to rechange them every time. ONLY after todays stupid patch

Happened to me also. Jumped into the the water and my screen went black for several seconds.

Same issue. Every time I enter the water the screen goes black and freezes for 10 seconds or more. If there happens to be a danger in the water then I’m dead when the game comes back.

I’ve been really enjoying the game so far (despite masses of lag in places) and couldn’t understand some of the vitreol for ANET I’ve seen on the forums….. but after this patch I’m starting to get an idea why some people feel frustrated.

i have a bit more info about this. more for isolation and coffee. the trigger is the camera. you go underwater with the camera still above the water surface, it will not happen. the moment your camera dips under the surface though, you’ll get the black.

It’s happening to me too. It’s getting really annoying, especially when I’m being attacked and can’t see what’s happening.

I have this as well. At first I thought it may have been my driver or something that screwed up, but I guess its better to know now that I am not the only one.

I might be an issue within the game itself or it could be that some of the coding has become in-compatible with our PC’s. What one do you have?

my experience is totally unplayable. I get a blank screen except for my map, guild chat and other player control assets. But no World. it happens when I go underwater and when i go to a new map. I noticed that if i toggle the Render Sampling option under the graphics tab that it will come back but its not permanent. Totally sucks and makes the game unplayable.

It’s weird though because it still allows my character to move / dive further in the water. It’s just my screen that goes black.

Yep, same here. I spend most of my time in WvW, and every time when I would jump into the water at Bay the screen goes black for 2 seconds, even when I just jump out and dive right back in, the screen goes black once again.

Black screen sins two last patch,but the last it’s every 10 minutes in pvp arena.

Same. Just started happening yesterday. I have an Acer Aspire E15. I play w/ the lowest settings. But it didn’t have the black screen problem until yesterday.

The black screen is because a current bug since the last patch keep resetting your rendering settings when diving underwater or changing maps etc. Even if you play on native it loads everything again to native for some reason. I had hoped the later update would solve the problem of the black screen. It did not! When I logged back on today, It happened again.

I’m having that issue too. If I’m not in full screen mode then my gw window freezes for a few seconds instead.

Getting really tired of black screen when i go in water, especially in WVW.. saw a few posts but no replies yet as to a fix or that it is even noted as a bug.

Can we get some kind of conformation on this as a bug or that a fix is coming soon? It is really game breaking for any area you have to swim through, especally WVW.

Same issue as well… it lasts for about 4-5 seconds maybe… also i get black screen flashes during zone loading, it used to only happen once but now it flashes multiple times. And I have noticed my game changing to native when i first load a zone. Its pretty annoying though… hope it gets fixed soon.

yeah this is still happening to me. It is game breaking for a lot of areas, especially in WVW.

I tried several different things including a repair tool run, updated graphics drivers etc.. everything is up to date.

I have noticed also that when loading in the UI seems to take a second before it loads fully, longer than it used to.. Dont know if it is related, but might be a clue.

I dont expect any kind of fix this week, as PAX is this weekend… my guess would be monday or tuesday at the earliest.

also i did a test.. swimming… every time i dive, it does it. The screen goes black EVERY time you dive under water… even if your swimming on the surface and dive down. Prob happening for everyone but not a lot have noticed it yet because they dont get in the water, those that only hang out in silver wastes or in town for example.

I’m not getting a black screen, but I am getting the lag. So, it’s more of a screen freeze for about 3s. It doesn’t happen if I manage to stay on the surface of the water, but as soon as my avatar’s head dips below, LAG.

Instead of getting a black screen I’ve had something else happen to me for ages.

When I go underwater in many areas and then leave, I’ll notice that my character along with enemy models will be invisible or my weapons won’t be visible. It lasts for like 5 or so seconds then everything reappears.

It’s weird.

I am glad i am not the only one. Started since Tuesday’s patch for me as well.
It’s a 2 seconds black screen every time i go in underwater mode.

I am having the same issue for this as well when I enter under water after the patch. Any way to resolve this yet?

Same, black screen. It appeared to be fixed when I logged in yesterday and today it is broken again.

I got it starting yesterday as well. Annoying that some monster will have a fraction of a second to hit me and I can not even see them yet.

Exact same issue. Go underwater and black screen flickers for a few seconds.

No matter what settings I use in the graphics options, it still happens.

please keep this post bumped guys.. need to get a fix ASAP for this.. it is game breaking for many area of the game, WVW in particular.. black screening and huge lag when entering water is deadly in wvw..

Yup I get this as well and came here to create a thread about it.

It seems to be if you are swapping from land to water weapons which causes this. You get into water and are fine but as soon as you submerge and the game tries to change your weapons to water you get the black screen.

If you are under water and surface and then submerge again you will get hit again. You can get spammed with this if you are constantly pushed to the surface from NPCs (krait is a good example) or players skills.

Very annoying.

I have upgraded to windows 10 but did not have this issue until only a few days ago, have had win10 for over a week now.

Interesting. I’ve had the same issue, though I thought it was perhaps a Mac only thing since my husband hasn’t experienced it with his Windows desktop.

Incredibly annoying and I hope it can get fixed soon.
