normal loot just disappearing is a pain in the kitten enough, without having to see wooden chests just disappear as well…… There i was, just doing an event. “oh look a wooden chest, ill grab that after i kill this champ” only to turn around and see the wooden chest had gone. WTF is going on there…… could of been that dusk ive been farming 1000 hours, put over 800gold in the forge and now saving for. Makes me think “What other loot has been disappearing on me…..”

You have to prioritize. ^^
Either you grab your loot quickly or you focus on first killing the enemy and then have a look if there is still loot for you.
I would suggest just “autoloot” with F during your fight nearly all the time and have an eye for the chests and grab them whenever you spot one.

Unfortunately there is no true autoloot where the game automatically detects the loot for you and put it into your inventar until it’s full.
Would be a nice additional option to choose from. ^^

This is why I don’t like the current system: it forces you to choose whether to loot, rez, fight, or run.

I try not to worry about disappearing loot: it’s the same as not tagging a foe at all, in that I don’t see the drops.

Thanx for the feed back. Yeah pick the loot up as soon as it drops. i do that. Spamming #1 and hitting E (in my case) at the same time is a real turn on in anyway lol but u would think it could be left, safe, for less than 10secs after it dropped. My point still being, loot shouldnt just disappear. I ask what causes this to happen in the first place?!?!? what ever it is, it should be fixed/changed so loot takes a priority of some kind.

I agree with OP…while it’s normal for regular mob…during an event, with champ or waves of mob, it would be great to have the clock start only at the end of the event giving us the time to gather the loot.

running through the field to gather it while new waves of mob are coming in is not always advisable … but I’d rather put that thread in suggestion that bug though since it has to be a clock for loot to disappear … if not Orr would sink back with the weight of dead corpse !

I’ve seen loot disappear while I’m rezzing someone else, especially if the foe drops as it runs away while I’m hurrying over to someone else. If the person is at 10% health, I try to help them rally instead of focusing on my loot — I don’t think I should be penalized for that.

The point isn’t whether it’s hard, it’s that it’s distracting — I spam [f] constantly during fighting to make sure I don’t miss anything, because it’s often difficult to see the sparkles, since they don’t always contrast well with the environment. Sometimes, I don’t see the wooden chest until after it’s looted, maybe due to culling.

So, no, it’s not “hard” or “difficult” or “hateful” — it’s just completely annoying to worry about it.

Others might be fine with the current system or even think it’s great fun to go searching for loot during a battle. I think it’s a 20th century mechanic and would prefer true auto-looting or even the WvW mechanic where the bags fly to you.

OOOR here’s a thought, they could like every other sensible mmo out there think about their players needs and keep loot items on the ground permanently until either the person leaves the area or they log off or they loot it. That’s an idea.

It’s bad enough that the players have had to suffer now due to the bots excuse for about a year now and have had to suffer because of mismanagement of the updates, and because of the balance needs of the few people that play pvp (rather then the massive number of people who play PVE) so we should add this to the list of things that are making this game not fun and it’s somehow the player’s responsibility to make the game work properly?

That’s ridiculous.

We complain that pve is nerfed = Lrn2ply/ we complain that the loot is nerfed = play the 1 way they give us to play to get loot/ we complain that the loot is disappearing = you’ve got to prioritize.

At some point it has to be the Devs, it can’t ALL be the players.

When is making this game fun, and enjoyable going to be the key priority?! When?

I also don’t understand why they are not allowing the loot to remain until you leave the map (I think I read somewhere that it would take too much resources? Don’t know..)..

But until they figure out something better (if ever?) we have to prioritize.. it is not that it is a good or a fair choice, but WE have to.

i was thinking it might be down to your own computers memory, both graphic and ram to how long loot stays where it dropped. Loot seems to disappear faster when there is alot going on around you. Maybe this is an auto setting that we cant change within the programming. at first i thought it was a bug but thinking over this and seeing how many people have the same problem this is my new conclusion. If so, loot needs to take a higher priority in the table or w/e it is that controls it.

Really? Wooden chests appear at your feet when they show up and it’s a choice to hit your skill key or “F” first? Even so, how troublesome is it to, say, dodge-roll then run back and hit F?

Those wooden chests are completely “random” rewards————not connected to the actual fight at all————————except they require a fight to appear. As such, these chests DO NOT conform to the “standard” loot drop methodologies———-they appear and disappear rapidly.

What I’d really like to see is a true (but optional) autoloot system.
ie, I kill something, the loot it drops goes into my inventory.

I thought this issue had been resolved after the last time it raised its ugly head….well, guess it is back. I have always thought it odd loot disappeared before you could reach it. Loot that should be around after a fight so that, once the dust settles, players can go around and loot to their heart’s content.

In any other game I’ve played, I’ve had time to pick up any loot I was rewarded after fighting was finished. This game, however, seems to work differently. I missed out on loot rewards earlier in the year when I experienced going to pick up loot as that loot just disappeared before I finished pressing [F]. Not to mention those small wooden chests that were lying under a dead enemy that disappeared after I left the area because I could not see it. Or as I walked toward it to pick it up, only to see it gone just before getting to it.

Auto loot in this game is ridiculous. It does not work as I’ve seen it work in other games. In other games you click once and “all” the loot that is yours pops into your inventory. In this game it only means that if you have 5 things in that body/bag/chest to loot you can pick all 5 things up at the same time before you move to the next body/bag/chest to loot.

Its bad enough when this happens, but even worse if you miss out on any rare or above item(s). This is obviously not game breaking but is extremely frustrating to folks who enjoy the gratification of receiving loot for their efforts.

Seems like they can actually fix something like this easily. Question is “Why is it not being fixed?” What’s even worse is, if you are defeated by that silly Veteran Karka in Southsun, way point out to run back into the fight knowing you contributed enough to the defeat of that Veteran Karka, only to see the body disappear as you approach it because the thing timed out.

This is as bad as seeing a loot bag at your side during WvWvW fight and you get defeated, unable to pick it up. After way pointing all the way back to your nearest way point and running back is not always an option. Some times I see bags at my feet after I way point but have been told it is because the enemy I was engaged in fighting, was finally defeated by our group…so the loot followed me. However, any loot left before I was downed just stays there and times out because I could not get back to it.

../sigh, this loot inconsistency is really annoying. I do wish it could be fixed so that it works equally well no matter where/what or who you are fighting.

I am glad this has got at least some attention cause this neeeeds to be fixed. Maybe Anet are taking some notice of this now and might be working to fix it in the future. Yeah, a truly “auto” auto loot system would be amazing.

Well at least the players are noticing, however, I have not seen any response from Anet about this in this thread yet.
