Some open threads in the forum have no edit, quote or report function icons beside their posts. The only thing visible is the permalink.

There was actually a post I wanted to report, but was unable to do so because of the lack of these options.

Is this a bug, or are there some unlocked threads that lack these choices for a valid reason?

I noticed the forum was updated since there are new features that weren’t available before like +1.

However, after that, the other features like “quote” and “report” stops showing on threads I have not replied to yet. It kinds of defeat the purpose of “quoting” for example, if I have to reply first before I can quote a user.

Or another example, I won’t be able to report threads unless I reply to the thread first.

Seems to be working just fine for me.

Actually, I see this now too. Seems to be intermittent for some reason. All of the features appear in this thread (edit, quote, delete, permalink, report) for the appropriate posts (self or other’s) without having to post first.

I don’t see them in this tread though. Seems strange.

It’s not even thread-based. It randomly turns itself on or off on refresh.
It’s very annoying.

I am facing the same issue. To me it seems page based (page 1 of a thread can be broken, but page 2 can be working properly). Also refreshing did not seem to change a thing.

I’ve tried refreshing, even tried clearing my cache. Can’t figure out how to quote other posts, in most threads (but not all). The only button that displays is the permalink icon.

I don’t know exactly what is causing this, but half of the time those buttons simply don’t show up and I get only a permalink option instead. It’s bothering me a bit, since not being able to quote takes a lot away from certain posts.

Yes, I keep having the same issue where I sometimes am able to quote people on threads and then suddenly it turns itself off and I only have the permalink option left. Even if I relog it still does it randomly.

Yes, extremely annoying. Stopped me from participating in the forums before.

Seems to be rocket-science, such a “forum”. Maybe if they ask around in the newsgroups of usenet, they find a kid who knows about this newfangled nonsense.

I’m getting the same problem, the edit, quote and report icons fail to show in some threads. It seems to be totally random and not permanent, by that I mean I can open a thread and notice that the edit, quote and report icons are missing, leave the thread and come back to it after a few minutes and the icons appear!

In case it might help, I’m using FireFox 15.0.1.

So that theory was shot. I just came from a single page thread that a dev had posted in and only thing showing was permalink icon there also.

E.g. I get the issue on page one of this thread: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Ok-seriously-Waypoint-costs/first

But page 2 works fine.

Yes it’s weird some pages work fine others don’t :/

I’m having the same problem. Quite annoyinig.

It seems like only one page in a thread will have these options enabled. On a multi page thread the lucky thread seems to be chosen randomly on refresh.

It’s irritating when I want to quote or report a post, but cannot.

You need to log out and log back in, then the links are displayed. Works every time. Annoying.

No, it happens even when I have only one guild wars 2 forum tab open.

Or if you mean it happens when I have multiple tabs for any site open, you may be correct, but that’s not an acceptable work around to me.

This does not work for me.

Edit: I am however able to do it manually by typing in the address that the button would go to. So click the permalink for that post, delete out the “first#post” that’s in there so it’s just threadtitle/postnumber at the end and then type another / and throw in the words edit, quote, whatever. i.e. – https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/forum/Some-threads-have-no-edit-quote-report-options/177909/quote

I have the same issue, on chrome. Seems most prevalent on page 1 of multi-page threads.

I have noticed this as well the only fix I have found is to make a post and then the quote edit ect will show up. most of the time that leads to me deleting the post that I had to make.

I have also noticed the same problem, particularly with threads I’ve seen before where it takes me to the first new post. I’ve tried with both chrome and IE, refreshing, etc. I’ve got all of my cookie and ad blocking turned off.

Oddly enough as soon as I started typing in this reply box, I can’t get it to happen in any thread I look at Seems to have more to do with multi-page threads.

Hmm that’s odd, I edited my post and it said it was edited by a moderator. Maybe there’s something going wonky with my credentials?

Yep, it’s random. I also noticed yesterday that even on threads I posted a reply, I can not see the said features.

I think that if you edit a post you made then the options disappear. Creating a new post makes them reappear. I’ll test that theory here.

Edit: nope, bad science! Bad! It seems to be fairly random so but logging out and in does seem to be a reliable workaround.

Any idea when this issue will be fixed? I’m still getting the same problem and trying to work around it is a bit frustrating.

The permalink button is always there, you can just copy it and add “/quote” or “/edit” to it. While the issue is very annoying, this does work fine in the mean time.

I seem to be unable to quote/report or edit in a thead that I posted in. +1 vainshes as an option. It is pretty annyoing.

Sick to death of never being able to edit my posts. Fix this already.

I’m having this same problem. I am absolutely livid about a forum post that casually referred to beating women, and I can’t report it. Please fix this so that we can keep the forums pleasant. I really, really hate not being able to do anything about vicious and misogynist things like that. Even if you never take down a post, reporting it makes me feel better, like I have a say.

Very peculiar, I’m getting it in reverse more often than not- after I reply the options vanish at random. After someone else replies they seem to “reset” tho..

Yes, I share the same problem, currently using Chrome on Windows 7 – 64 bit.

True, i constantly have this bug.

Same problem here. Reloading the page sometimes fixes it, but at other times I can reload all I want but it’s like the forum is just laughing at me and going “you’re not editing this post, hahaha”.

same here, the quote and report buttons just don’t show up sometimes, and it looks like it’s completely random. for example, this thread has had a quote button before i replied to it, but another thread didn’t show them until i posted, and sometimes the buttons won’t show even after i post.

It’s annoying, it’s hard to have some kind of discussion going when you can’t quote half the time, sometimes the whole thread becomes invisible to me.. then there is the edit bug where each time you make an edit it includes the unedited text as well, making the post unreadable. All completely random.

How long we need to wait before it’s fixed? Weeks? Neither a relog fix.

I need to answer every single thread to make these buttos appear and than i delete my post. That creates a massive amount of trash in every single thread! Do you guys really want that? I’m sorry, but theres no other way to make these buttons appear.
Please fix this bug asap!

I’m getting the same thing.
It won’t let me do anything (until I add a reply), since none of the buttons are visible, except the permalink, which when I click on it, it does nothing (sometimes it takes me down to the reply box, but doesn’t add anything). I know it happened when I’ve refreshed the page, or when I’ve right clicked and open in new tab (Firefox).
It looks like this:

The only reliable way I’ve found to get them back is to force reloading of the page (Shift+refresh in Chrome) until I see them. I usually takes multiple refreshes.

There is some interaction with replying to a thread, but I don’t know exactly how. Sometimes adding a reply causes them to disappear for me. Maybe I’ll disabling my browser’s cache and see if that helps.

I already knew about the work around with the /edit /quote thing and refreshing the page never works for me.
