Hey Lacey,
Thank you for letting us know what your job is here. I think a lot of people were hoping for somebody to advocate a native mac client. It’s always good seeing more anet personal working with the mac community. I appreciate you beeing here.
Not hiring a dedicated mac specialists and taking from your regular work hours shows how little Anet thinks of mac players and makes their nice words taste quite sour.
That client’s developement has been neither denied nor confirmed sadly and after those years and the continued lack of support for a native client, it is safe to assume that this sorry excuse for a client will stay for a while.
The forums really only needed a quick clean up, ever other 3 months or so. can be done by any mod posting a quick question asking what needs cleaning up, worked last time.
The concerns have always been about all the problems the wrapper is causing.
As it stands, mac players cannot enjoy the same graphical fidelity as other people. they suffer frame drops with a lot of people around and even though it has worked for me for a while, the black lion trading post is often inaccessible for mac users.
Also sometimes it doesn’t start or restarts the computer upon exiting the game.
So again, please consider to get some kind of message stating the developement of a native mac client.
If you do not develop one at the moment, let us know and we will use windows meanwhile. I don’t understand the ratio behind ignoring any plea, comment, question or suggestion regarding a mac native client.
I know that where arenanet is situated the legal environment is more than toxic but there should be a way to notify players about the current state of said client without breaking any kind of NDA.
My favor to ask of you is to tell somebody that the mac client in its current state might hurt the reputation of arenanet more than it would be inconvenient for mac users to install windows and play it on a native client.
Mac users have been using windows for a long time if you played other games than Blizzard games.
I really don’t like working with windows but only using it for games always worked out. It would be better to have native mac games though of which there are still too few.
Thank you for your work Lacey, sorry about the less than perfect format of this post, I’m tired of writing the same quaggan manure every time
