Frame rate problem
Edit your “~/Library/Application Support/Guild Wars 2/config”
and set the “VideoRam” value appropriate to the video memory size of your graphics card first. Then experiment with values between “0” and “4” on the “MTD3D” setting to find the one that offers best performance to you.
I tried and if anything it had gotten worse
Too bad. Well, my Lions Arch Slideshow got a bit faster thanks to those tweaks. You could try to bootcamp Windows.
Run it windowed and not on 1440×900 or whatever the mac is. When i run fullscreen 1440 i get 20 standing 15-18 fighting when i ruhn it windowed on 1160? I get 26-28 standing and 22-24 fighting. When i run it okn the lowest i getlike 34 standing. Also you probably know but id close out other programs running. I usually have safari itunes and vent(chat for guild) up.

Also what is your RAM?
If none of the other tips help to improve frame rates, consider making a BootCamp installation. The client will run significantly better on Windows.
249 gb of ram
Bootcamp is good but i do not suggest it. First yoku have to partition part of you memory deticates to bootcamp. Then you need to get a windows disk which is n ok big deal but thr install is not stable. I have a mac air and i tried doing this and it made my harddrive malfunction which made it not mount on start up meaning my hard drive was not found when i turned my comp on. It took about 30 resarts for it to work. Eventually i took it back to apple and got a newe one but that coulf just be a 1 ina million chance that it happened.
Also how old is your mac and what model. And i would download onmisweeper to get rid of countless files that are stashed away hidden in your folders and if safari or what ever browser you use is slow (5-7 sec load time ON AVERAGE) then it would be good to pick up a free virus scanning program just to make sure. Last time my comp was slow i had a virus and i got rid of it before it got bad. If none of this hreelps maybe you should grab an external hard drive and take important files and things you need and put it ion the hard drive. Then reinstall your osx lion. If you do this be sure to format your external hard drive in the disk utility to mac. Most externals default to windows 64 bit. Good luck!
Its a late 2009 macbook…
well that could very well be the problem age its self takes a toll on computers
249 gb of ram
Ehm no…. that the hard drive space. Apple —→ Information about this mac.
If you have only 2GB go to your Apple Store and boost to 4GB or 8GB.

A 2009 MacBook (Non-Pro) doesn’t have enough power to run the game at a decent framerate, at least not in OSX.
If you can’t afford a new one, you should definitely look at BootCamp/Windows as an alternative. I’d recommend Windows 7, but Win8 is pretty affordable currently, and it works too. You can download and test Windows for free, if you want to make sure it works, before you actually spend money on it.
A larger harddrive to have enough space for both systems is much less expensive than a new MacBook.
Mystogan seems to have had a really bad experience, which can happen, but personally I used Bootcamp on two MacBooks and an iMac and had no problems.
