Game won't start
Can’t launch the game in the windows partition either. I uninstalled the game and downloaded the Gw2Setup.exe. The message is different from the MacOS client, but the main problem is the same. Haven’t seen anyone else post about this on the forums, so I guess it’s not a common issue. I can’t see any problem with my network, and I have checked firewall settings.
Although this reply doesn’t directly apply for the Mac client tech support, I would assume it’s useful info for troubleshooting.
There is a patch coming today (not out yet) and it’s possible that it’s preventing you from connecting (although i can just fine?)
What are your mac’s specs? Have you been able to play prior to today?
With respect to game crashes or not starting, the #1 first thing to do is:
1) go to your Libraries folder —> Applications Support
2) delete the guild wars 2 folder there.
3) restart the game: the Application support folder is automatically recreated
All of the game launch bugs I have experienced are due to cider not updating its image properly on exit. This happens somewhat predictably after that occasional in-game crash.
If you cannot start your game, delete the Applications Support guildwars2 folder and try again. Works for me every time. If that doesn’t work, then try the other remedies suggested.
^— They said it would not start in Windows either though – so it seems like that isn’t the issue.
Got it sorted somehow. Guess it had something to do with the new patch coming. The game magically started downloading about two hours ago after not being able to launch since i checked yesterday. Haven’t checked the windows partition yet since it’s not done downloading.
About the applications support folder: I don’t know exactly why, but there is no such guildwars2 folder atm. I think I can recall doing what you’re saying some months ago after a OS update, but it’s been perfectly fine for a while now.

Seems it still doesn’t work. I was able to start the game when the download was done and get to the character selection, but when I then pressed the “play” button I got this message: “The game client was unable to connect to the log-in server. Please restart your client and try again. If the problem persists, contact Customer support for assistance at http…….. (Code=58:11:5:523:101)”
Have found this code in another post in the tech support forum, but no solution. It’s looks like it’s most definately a network problem.
i have an empty box where gw2 should be in the middle of my screen since update. i cant play gw2 if there is no way to see the game.
I got it working somehow and have been playing for some time today without any major issues.

Is it the same empty launcher as the one I had? If so, I don’t know how to resolve it, but it somehow fixed itself.
Someone else on this forum must surely have some insight on this. Speak up if you have any ideas.

this fixed my game crash after update issue.
Access the Library folder:
- press “Go” on your mac options bar
- press and hold the “option” key
- click “Library”
after that you can follow Valenar.8920’s directions.
