I’ve been running the mac beta client since it came out on my Macbook Pro Retina display with Core i7 2.6GHz and Nvidia GT 650M 1GB. It’s been running around 40 FPS consistently until I did an update on Friday. Now the framerate drops to 10 to 15 FPS on even the lowest settings.

Please help!

Solved the issue by resetting SMC.

Glad you figured it out. I was all set to post that I hadn’t noticed a change. And, further, the OS X patch addressed nothing that would affect GW2 performance.

hiya, i noticed this thread when i was searching about the low FPS i was getting on my macbook pro retina display as well … when you said you reset your SMC … sorry if this is a noob question, but what is the SMC? cause i have the macbook pro retina display as well, and i noticed with the beta client with the res at 2880×1800 with best performance mode im getting no more then 20 fps … and even if i shrink it to 2048×1200 i get no more then 22 fps … i figured as you said with the specs in our computers we could easily handle getting 40 fps on max settings or something close to it??

That’s interesting. This is the first I’ve heard of resetting the SMC (relatively new Mac user).

So… I have a MacBook Pro 13" bought in December 2011. I get a frame rate of about 15-20 FPS on the lowest graphics setting. Is this correct? Should I be getting more?

If so then maybe resetting the SMC would do the trick?

On a 13 inch? Probably not. People need to realise, the 13 inch will always have a poorer GPU than the 15 or 17 – Remember it’s a laptop not designed with gaming in mind, you should be thankful that is actually runs! 20 fps on a 13inch, ?stock? mbp seems reasonable to me?

specs?

But actually ANet have said it should work fine on that model – https://en.support.guildwars2.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1119

For the record, I reset the SMC and it whacked my framerate up to the high 20s!! However, I think it’s been declining steadily since and in a few days will probably end up back in the high teens.
